Overture of Champions

I wanted to make something using Blackattackbitch's collection of soundfonts to show people really what's in there. There's some really great stuff if you just dig around and know how to polish things up a bit. I'm used to working with heavy and expensive libraries like those by Spitfire and EWQL, and I wanted to take a break from all that. For anyone out there who thinks it's just the sounds you use that matter, think again. Enough tweaking and time and you can polish a turd. ;)

While most of my normal songs take up between 200 and 1,000 MB of RAM, this one only weighed 32.5 MB. In addition, I found finale virtually never crashed, so that was pretty nice. I used quite a bit of EQ, some faux stereo, and the amazing QL Spaces reverb.

Let me know what you think (of the piece or any images that come to mind that you want to share) in the comments below!

Cool song! I really like your use of dissonant chords at the start. Gives it a really cool intro!

Thanks, Cain.

I really like this piece. I enjoy how it's gentle in the beginning, but I can feel the power around the time the choir comes in. Very nice, and great use of the sample library. I would love to pick your brain about which of the samples you find most useful from the massive file. I have East West SO, but I am always looking for some other stuff to compliment what I have.

5/5 Great Song! +1 for using Finale!

samulis responds:

Haha, thanks dude. If you need a list, just PM me. I can send it tomorrow when I have time.
