Voice Acting - Comedy

Author Comments

Lately, I have been watching a lot of Adventure Time. That and in light of receiving a brand new microphone has prompted me to make something. Unable to draw or animate, I decided to make an audio series! Is it good? Do you like? Let me know and rate so I gets me some motivation! =)

First off, I like that you dedicated this to Harold Ramis. I've always been a fan of his works since I first saw them and am glad that he inspired you.

This pilot is really good! A space travelers audio series. I really enjoyed the opening theme song. The club room jazz music leaves me feeling a bit nostalgic, like listening to an old radio program.

The voice acting for our protagonist Jim Moretti (not sure about the spelling,) is solid. But initially I was a little thrown by his almost casual way he dealt with getting shot down. Though I guess that speaks to his character, as an experienced space traveler.

The prim and proper British A.I. is memorable. I was amused by the idea that since Jim built the ship, he apparently created the A.I. and they have an annoyed master/ professional butler relationship.

Octalia or Natalia (I think) the bounty hunter was a little disconcerting, at first. Using the robot voice made me think, "Oh great now we get to listen to a robot talk a bunch." But it all turned around when the helmet got blasted off and I burst out laughing when the heavy voice began speaking! I was reminded of Dr. Girlfriend from the Venture Brothers.

Her monologue threw me a little. She was focused on men looking at her body even when Jim was clearly thrown by her voice. Maybe I just got the wrong idea?

Anyway, the story is great. The script, sound effects, music choice and characters are solid and I honestly would like to hear more of this in the future. Please keep this up!

Hope this was helpful.

Thank you so much for that kind review! I'm really glad you got a nostalgic bit of feeling as you listened to it, that's exactly what I was going for!

For Clarification the Character Names are:
James "Jim" Moretti

Happy you like the dedication. He's been a huge inspiration for me, especially with writing. With this possibly launching a huge new audio series for me, I figured it was only fitting to credit the man whose works have truly inspired me.

Yea Jim basically took the shooting down pretty lightly due to it happening a lot as it is. Next time I'll include some dialogue to reflect that.

I'm glad you liked the A.I. and master relationship. Otis has a lot of influences, among them are Stephen Fry & Tim Curry.

I am actually pretty psyched that you liked the twist with Atellia. I was actually shooting for that feel of "Oh Lord, it's a female robot". Only to find out that it's a woman with a pretty good excuse to hide her voice! Yea you also nailed it on the head, that character is heavily based on Dr. Girlfriend heh.

The monologue I do realize now that it's a bit miss, while Atellia makes one point and Jim the other, only for it to fly over each other's heads, in my script writing I think I forgot to link the two's dialgue together and have a nice pay off before she leaves. Sorry about that, I'll be more careful with the script with the first episode ;)

Thank you again for your review, I really, honestly appreciate it. I've been doing small things like these for years and it's the first time I'm concentrating on an ongoing series with a completely original script, so I'm happy that it has some entertainment value. I'm stoked that you want to see more too, don't worry because you will! =)
