This will go perfectly in my collection of "blue" music. The percussion seems to jump into the picture a little too aggressively. I think I would personally prefer the theme to play for a round without percussion, then have some standard drummy transition into the percussionified version. Sorry, I hope that is understandable. :o)
Yes, it is understandable :D If I'll make a song similar to this one, I'll try to mess around with percussion a bit more : ) Thank you for your comment!
This song had a really cool ambient feeling to begin with, but when the percussion hit, became a really strong leading piece. I like the syncopated feeling you were able to get with the percussion, it's always much more interesting to have syncopation in a beat rather than a simple back beat. As a drum teacher by profession, I approve of your use of percussion to accentuate your songs strengths, rather than just simply "throwing in" some percussion just to have percussion. Very nice song!
Yeah, I actually planned to make an ambient song, but when I added percussion, I decided to make something with more life in it :). It's great that you liked it, and thank you for your comment!
Good piece. The piano with much reverb combined with the string pads and synths created a nice scifi flair. What i would have changed is the deep synth. I think it could be much louder to underline the powerful character of the piece and bould up some counterpart to the high frequencies (piano / synths / guitar). Use the full spectrum.
Dont know if you know the m83 soundtrack from oblivion - i am listening to this piece now since a few days and got really stunned. This is a good example for the perfect usage of the full sound spectrum (even this piece is synth / stadium kit and female voice only if i remember correctly). To take a listen is worth it :D
What would have been good is to insert fast spiccatto violin patterns to underline the genre you are using - just very discreet and subtile - almost not hearable. Also you could moch more effect if you would use the full dynamical range.
Overall a great piece. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! I'm still new to this kind of music, so I'll definitely try out your ideas and tips :) And thank you as well for the M83 - Oblivion! It really was worth it to take a listen >:D
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
