Imagine lying down on the sand of a warm beach... being enveloped by the sound of the waves.

1. I'm not sure what it is with me and the ocean recently...

2. That one solo at 2:00... wonder why it sounds so cute? It's because it's being played on my laptop keyboard, and ableton only allows one octave at a time. I miss my MIDI keyboard.

3. Reinstalling everything has given me an excuse to get back to basics. Every single instrument here has been synthesized with Ableton's operator.

4. I think I'm finally getting the hang of using those jazzy 7ths. Feel the warmth of the chords!

5. One thing I've been thinking about recently is how to do buildups without the crutch of rev cymbals and white noise. In this song I've done a lot of the antibuildup, where you strip things away until its just one thing playing, and then boom bring everything back. I like this a lot.

5. This song owes a great deal in terms of sound design and general execution to DDRKirby(ISQ)'s album Love Everlasting, which is just excellent. Check it out http://ddrkirbyisq.bandcamp.com/album/love-everlasting

This would be a great song for a VvV VvV level (vvvvvv is a game)

johnfn responds:

Yeah! I like VVVVV :D

I would just like to say that this song makes me smile :))

Wow, this song is Awesome and Beautiful at the same time!

johnfn responds:

Awesome... AND beautiful! What a combination :D

I feel like you incorporate an ambient tone mixed with a chipstep feel quite swimmingly. You remind me of a C418 ft. deadmau5 song only a little bit crushed. 4.5 stars! :)

johnfn responds:

uh but yeah thanks for the review! :D

i can really tell effort was put into this song, the mastering is great, and the structure as well. Simple yet effective and delightful.

ps. i like your theory on anti-buildups i might try it sometime.

johnfn responds:

thanks! send me a link if you ever end up using the same idea :)
