I love it
Hello everyone!
Thought I'd upload a cover I made today of Ghost Town by First Aid Kit. Usually I don't record my harp; for some reason my microphone doesn't record it very well so the quality is never really that good. I'd feel like a cheat if I didn't record a folk song with an acoustic instrument though. It may not have the best quality, but it's where most of the feeling lies. ^ ^
I added some other instruments just to build it up and add a bit of atmosphere and make it my own on FL Studio. I do love First Aid Kit and this song is one of my favourites from them!
Unfortunately NG still doesn't have a 'Folk' option and the closest fit I can find to this song would I guess be Country in this case as FAK have a bit of a country sound to them! Never really heard Country with a British accent though~
I love it
Thank you! I'm glad :)
It's clearly not autotuned! I can see why they would accuse you of it, though. Listening to the 4:43 mark, it certainly has that autotune "style," but before that, I can tell you flubbed some notes throughout the song, especially that first "yoooouu" high note.
Concerning the instruments, I really like them! If it were me, though, I would make them a bit wider and keep the vocals standing in the middle. Also, from what I've heard from an employee at a local music center, the mics that vocalists use are usually the best for harps. (I forget what they were called. Help me out here, someone!) But mic placement is key, he says. Keep it a good distance away with the mic pointing down. Hope he wasn't talking out of his ass!
And yeah, wtf NG. No folk option? Do we even have any country artists in this portal?
Wow man... it's amazing to hear the control you have over your own voice. It just sounds so good... I wish I could sing like that.
An about your harp recording, what mic do you have? Maybe the mic is not the right one for recording harp or the mic position you are using is not a good one. You can PM me anytime and I'll help you if I can ^_^
You're really so kind, I have a long way to improve with my voice though. I want to strive to be the best me I can possibly be! ^ ^
I learned about which microphones to use for what and microphone positioning in recording sessions a few years ago when I studied music technology. The thing is I simply don't have the equipment in my position, so I'm limited to using the same microphone I use for my vocals to record the harp and without a stand, I can't position the microphone in an appropriate position for recording the best possible sound from the harp. I make do with what I have whilst I cannot afford any more equipment sadly. Thank you!
I feel your voice is heavily tuned? Also your Hi EQ's are a bit over boosted. Either all of that or I am just jealous at the fact you are a better singer than me ;) Nice tune over all.
There's no Autotune at all, just reverb, a sound gate and EQ ^^ I'm still not sure why some people think my voice has been autotuned, it gets a bit frustrating :p
Thank you though!
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
