On September 28, 1987, an exhaustive search was being conducted by authorities and townspeople alike in the area around Lake Orsa, located in central Sweden. The days prior had seen a mysterious vanishing fall upon the otherwise calm municipality of Mora, located in the province Dalarna, regarding two high school students. The two teenagers (aged 16 and 17) had set out to conduct field research for a biology assignment near the lake, in what was supposed to be a brief camping trip. None of them would ever return.
It didn't take long to find the camping site the kids had used, but while everything was intact (and the tent still set up), the students themselves were nowhere to be found. The following weeks didn't turn up a single trace of the pair either, and the search was ultimately discontinued - the teenagers labeled "missing, presumed dead."
In the wake of the bizarre incident, rumors about murder started to circulate in the area, coupled with a general sense of anxiety. With time, these feelings gradually started to fade from the collective consciousness and the story ultimately turned into a kind of folk tale. In the years since then, it has resulted in a number of urban legends surrounding Lake Orsa that are still being perpetuated even today. Some say the kids drowned, and that their spirits will try to drown you if you enter the deeper parts of the lake. Others believe there was an insane man living in the surrounding woods who killed the pair, and that he'll get you if you go there alone. Still others say that if you go to the lake in the middle of the night, and sit on one of the rocks by the riverbank - you can faintly hear the distant echoing cries of the teenagers that vanished at Lake Orsa.
Happy Halloween everyone! I felt like doing something a little more creepy than usual and this is the result. Enjoy!
