Well I can understand your feelings about FL Slayer. It used to irk me too when I listened to other people's music and made me think less of their songs, until I listened to NemesisTheory's "Rising Sun" and I realized that stock instruments can actually sound freakin' awesome when the composer doesn't use them as a crutch but rather as an augmentation. It's a bit like seeing through a magic trick, but still being able to appreciate the magician's showmanship and execution.

I had plenty of other options for bass and guitar, believe me, but none of them had the exact kick and power I wanted and got from Sytrus and Slayer. And I actually didn't use FL Keys for this; I used a really cool freeware VST called ilosynth and a buttload of HQ free soundfonts (one of which is the pianno.)
