I was thinking about newgrounds when i composed this, about how some of my favorite composers have left newgrounds due to frustration with the site or simply moving on. Also about how, people leave and walk away from you, how places things we love all seemingly get washed away. along with this song is a poem, in lyrical format

Sandcastles

Once upon a time I had a palace of renown
made of more glass parts than I could count
and in a land far far away I had a home for me
i had something, oh yes something, a sight to see
i had something, oh yes something, a sight to see

I built my castle in the sand
Arbor of tan and crystal tassel
But it didn’t get a chance
Sieged and pillaged in a day
I built my sandcastle
And it was swept away
I built my sandcastle
And it was swept away

So paddle your oars, and ride a river away from me
Buy your plane ticket, pack your bag, Take your leave
You can build your life around someone so sweetly
But the tide can bring you down... eventually

I built my castle in the sand
Arbor of tan and crystal eyes
But it didn’t get a chance
Sieged and pillaged in a day
I built my sandcastle high
And it was swept away
I built my sandcastle high
And it was swept away

There was once a mirage in my mind of a family who accepted me
I had at a time, an idea that they might let me be me, eventually
A dream is a hope you hold on to for dear life
But a dream can lie and leave you alone to cry

I built my castle in the sand
Arbor of tan and crystal dome
But it didn’t get a chance
Sieged and pillaged in a day
I built my silica home
And it was swept away
I built my silica home
And it was swept away

So we build out little castles in the sand
And our sandcastles so beautifully stand
For a time they are wonderful to be seen
For a time they are elegant and stunning
And children come and kick down the towers
And adults enter and lay down towels
And when all had been crushed and crumbled
We try to rebuild from all that is ash and rubble

I built my castle in the sand
Arbor of tan and crystal tassel
But it didn’t get a chance
Sieged and pillaged in a day
I built my sandcastle
And it was swept away
I built my sandcastle
And it was swept away

we built castles in the sand
Arbors of tan and crystal tassels
But they didn’t get a chance
Sieged and pillaged in a day
we built our sandcastles
And they were swept away
we built our sandcastles
And they were swept away
