I remember how she smiled.
The winter sun, rightfully claiming its place beneath the horizon that evening, lit her hair with such amber flame that I found myself unable to resist her charms any longer. I took her, swiftly, into my arms and asked her, nose to nose, "Delilah, do you swear that you love me?"
The ruddy hue of her cheeks, brought into stark contrast against her pale complexion due to the cold surrounding us, grew ever larger across her face, as she giggled, and said, "You know that I do, Marcus. And," she added, with a delicate stroke of my frozen cheek, "that I always have, and always will."
I remember how she smiled, then. The light which filled her emerald eyes, now, reminded me starkly of nights before. Nights which we had spent in-doors together, stone walls and underground furnace keeping out the cold winter chill of a mid-January New York city, and assisting the circulation of our love for one another throughout the room, instead.
I remember the chill in the air, that dark winter's night in Central Park. I remember how it vanished in the instant our lips met.
I remembered how, upon the parting of our bodies...
Yet again, she smiled.
