This is a main menu theme thingy I wrote for a game my friend was working on. No idea when/if it's going to be finished. I think he's currently looking for a programmer for it actually, so hey, get in touch if you're interested! Haha. The menu screen is up in the clouds, so I was thinking about the sky while writing this.

It's probably slightly boring to listen to out of context. Perhaps try to let it play as background music a few thousand times...

I used a lot of Cinesamples Cinewinds Core.
with some EWQL Hollywood Strings n' stuff.

This is a gorgeous track. I do not wholly understand the dynamics of this portal, submissions that are worse than this have 5 stars, whilst this composition which is not only crisp and professionally done, is also moody, showcases a lot of theoretical knowledge and talent, is rated lower...
In any case, reviews for this track might be redundant, the number of plays it has speaks for itself.

Very well done!
You seem very proficient in this style, have you ever considered doing an youtube video showing a bit of your creative process, or writing some tips on a blog or something of that sort? I'd be greatly interested and I don't think I'm the only one, this sort of composition is rather hard to make good, and I'm sure many are interested in increasing their versatility.

Benmode responds:

Wow what a kind review!

I'm glad you like the track. I haven't ever really thought about doing a youtube video or anything like that, I don't really feel thatttt confident about my stuff haha. When a track turns out well, I always feel like I got lucky and that I'll never be able to do it again. A common feeling among composers I think!

I do post in forums every now and then though, just sharing some of my approaches to composing. I'm also happy to help people who PM me etc.

So you wanted a review on this piece - here it is: Really well done! The mood you have created is very dark and sinister. I really like the combination of winds and strings in this piece -the celli legato patches of HS are just so beautiful and bring in so much tension, especially in the crescendo part at 1:45. The only thing which i found a little bit "disapointing" (maybe this word is a little bit to hard) was that after the crescendo usually comes the really epic part and you built up the tension so well - but the epic action stays out. I also like the following part, but i think the introduction of epicness should get its climax in an epic explosion or something like that. I think you know what i mean :). Anyway interesting piece with very strong moments, nice orchestra sound (i also got the Hollywood series and i really love it) and a lot of potential.

Well done! Say hello to your rabbits :D

Benmode responds:

Yo! Thanks for 'aving a listen. A nice review! :) I really enjoy the winds+strings thing too, I think I'd like to write like this again sometime. Yeah I get what you mean with the lack of climax after the crescendo. For me the loud chord at the end WAS the climax, haha, but I get what you mean, it could have had something much cooler happen.

The rabbits say hi.

This would feel at home in the Legend of Zelda games or the Lord of the Rings, well done! I liked this a lot! :D

Benmode responds:

Ace, that's the sort of thing I was going for :) I forgot to mention it in the description but the game it's for is set in a LOTR kind of world.
I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the review.

i loved it
the dynamics are marvelous and i love that crescendo though i think it clipped a bit but this is just a minor nitpick. (not so good at nitpicking) and maybe adding some panning

this piece gave out different moods in such a short time and the way it transitions is flawless great job 5 stars

Benmode responds:

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the tips. I'm not sure if I even thought about panning much on this one haha.
I'm glad you liked the transitions, I was slightly worried they were a bit too random or abrupt or something.

I definitely like the feel of this piece. It is highly reminiscent of computer RPGs of the later '90s.

Keep up the good work.

Benmode responds:

I'm glad you liked it! Thanks
