So Much Work So Little Fun
AIM Submission
Inspired by this Poliips piece, Tired (check her out she is great!):
I am currently studying for the bar so I can relate. When I read about AIM, I immediately knew we had to do a piece by Poliip because she let us use a piece for our EP cover a few months back. We checked out her stuff and chose, at the time, her most recent piece. We decided to take the picture, which looked depressing and make the song about avoiding doing work. We applied a twist, indicative of our own style, by making the song upbeat and funny.
Essentially it is about doing everything to avoid the work. The band and I decided the song needed handclaps and went from there. We recorded a demo of this song the first few nights after I read about AIM and then slowly worked on it for a few weeks.

So Much Work, fitting title for a track that sounds so carefully constructed and well executed! Melody stays on point with a poppy yet empowered feel of drums, bass, and acoustics, Vocals were kinda odd at the start, but slowly and surely amalgamated itself within the core of the song, giving it a harmonic yet satirical feel. So Much Work indeed, hope to hear more from you guys!
the first measure had my head bobbing, and it took less than a minute for me to favorite this song, definitely one of the cleanest tracks i've come across here so far. It's a little poppy for my normal tastes, but its so damn catchy i don't even care.
the delivery on the lyrics for the verse is interesting and clean, i love the stop-quick-go! style, and the bass break down leading into the chorus is perfectly set up and executed, along with the minimal drum solo leading into the second verse.
the Mix is professional sounding and everything fits together exceedingly well.
5/5 favorited, and downloaded. i wish you had more stuff posted!

Hey Thanks so much for all the reviews Fustigate! We will be posting more material when we release our EP (we're hoping a label will pick us up but if not we'll likely release by the end of summer) ! :) If there are any more songs contests on Newgrounds we will likely write and submit more as well.
Very well mixed. Sounds very transparent. The drums sound really powerful. The voice is good and pleasant to listen too (that's pretty rare overall). All the other instruments clear. I wish though the chorus had more text than just "procrastinating in the sun". Feels like the first sentence of a really catchy sing along chorus, except it's not the first but the only sentence, and you can't really sing along with just one sentence. Should be at least 3 more sentences.
