Another one of my trance creations. It picks up around 2:13 minutes.

clipping means; sounds go beyond a certain dB level making it clip because its too loud.
it can happen with more than just 1 sound or instrument..
for example;
if you have 2 instruments lets say Inst 1 and Inst 2.. Inst 2 goes beyond the dB level for some reason however, you dont want that because it causes clipping..
with the correct compression added it will reduce the levels that go beyond the dB level reducing the clipping.
easy fix lol.

anyways, nice song bit out of my league but its nice to hear something else now and then!
goodluck on the fixing part if you take it in consideration ;)

Thanks for your explanation. I have worked with compression/limiting since and see what you're saying.

You're waveform looked VERY strange, also you're base is clipping, you may want to avoid clipping, in the future. The objective of trance is not to be as loud as possible. It's not a good idea to participate in the loudness war whilst making trance music. Other than that this was pretty good. I can't give you more technical advice, because i have no experience with producing music. I have studied waveforms, and audio formats a little on my own time.

SokiStar responds:

Thanks for your input. As far as a strange waveform, how do I go about 'normalizing' it without completely changing the feel of the song? My bass dB is already low, so do you have any pointers on avoiding clipping? I appreciate the technical advice, because I don't have a lot of experience yet. Are there any good youtube vids or sites that teach this sort of thing? Thanks.

This is nice track. It reminds me of ParagonX9 in how it mixes melody and ambiance. It's like a tune you get hyped up relaxing too. Nice melody overall, with plenty of variation and I especially appreciate those crystalish plink sounds that tick in every now and then. I imagine a land of ice when I listen to this. Keep it going!

Thank you for liking my song. Most of my songs have a similar mystic, light feel. Something I would like to learn is where to find and how to use sound effects. For example, that white noise that builds up to a climax, or other noises. I appreciate your input.
