Continuation of the story from my review on: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/477065
...Water plunging the world around him into darkness and all went quiet as the whispers stopped.
He opened his eyes wide and spun around looking for any source of light, but to no avail. He looked up at the sky once more for the comfort he had found not long before but to his horror he found that even the light of the moon had vanished.
He delved his hands into the murky water in search for his torch and felt nothing but mud.
It started to rain...
The sounds started again on the edge of hearing getting louder and louder. Context clearer than content. Malice potent in the air. Ripples of water gently pushed against his thigh cast out from movement in the water around him.
Terror seized him as he lowered his head in defeat and he sank to his knees... and prayed.
(Queue the music)
A gentle breeze brushed against his cheek and a light appeared before Elward.
A bright light from a source unknown consumed the area sending him from one state of blindness to another as his eyes struggled to adjust. He held his hand out to shield his eyes but soon found that he didn't need to.
The whispers had stopped once more, drowned out by a gentle hum, angelic in nature like a hymn from a choir.
No words needed to be spoken as his confidence grew. The cold night air became warm and welcoming and Elward's expression of terror gave way to an assured smile.
He rose to his feet and marched towards the light. Each step was an arduous task as he dragged his feet through the thick water but his vision did not sway from the light guiding him from the swamp. His sight became tunnelled as his peripheral became blurred and all but vanished. And as his endured his struggle diminished as each step became easier still.
He reached out with his arm extended towards his salvation from the darkness surrounding.
"Wake up!" Came a voice from above. Elward felt a hard boot nudge him in the side. He opened his eyes.
"Forgath?" He replied.
"Who else? Stop lying around. It's morning." Forgath continued. Elward sat up to see Forgath and Gelliard standing over him. They were at the edge of the woods.
"Told you it was a good short cut. But you shouldn't separate from the group, had us worried there for a moment." Said Gelliard.
Elward looked into the woods and back at them again.
"Come on we're going." said Forgath as the two of them turned around and started heading towards the opposite horizon.
After another moments confusion Elward rose to his feet and started to follow.
"That was a good short cut, we should come back this way when we return." Suggested Forgath.
"Aaah!" And Elward passed out.
And so the story ends, this is yet another piece of music that instantly inspired my imagination. I did not think this was a story I would finish but i found it appropriate. 5 Stars. Keep it up.
I imagine being lost in the middle of nowhere in deep snow with mountains that have trees on them all around. It's nighttime and there's no light pollution so you can see so many starts and the northern lights. It kind of makes me feel sad, like I just ran away from something awful like a death. It's really beautiful and I can feel it in my heart :3
