Here we've got one of the remixes I made for the amazing free Metroid remix album; Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run, organised by Shinesparkers. You must check it out:

This is a remix of the Metroid Prime 1 Menu/Credits theme. It's one of my favourite themes from all of the Metroid music, and I thought that it was screaming for an orchestral remix. This was made with Echo as a collaborative effort, and it's thanks to him that there's such nice composition, harmonies and instrumentation. Fun fact: Echo and I made this by him coming over to my place, and us spending till very late at night working on this.

This uses a variety of different VSTs. We've got East/West Symphonic Orchestra Platinum, East/West Stormdrum 2, East/West Voices of Passion, East/West Ministry of Rock, some random drum samples from the internet, and Sytrus for the beepy synth, which I made myself. I know that the beepy synth is kinda unfitting, but the reason I added it was as a reference to the music of the Metroid series, which makes very clear use of synths similar to it.

Thanks goes to Darren Kerwin and Torbjorn 'Falcool' Brandud, the founder and assistant director of the album, along with Zero-Flare, Birdinator99, Blackhole12 and camoshark for giving me all the feedback and help that a guy could ask for.

This is actually the opening track to the whole of Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run, and I'm really glad that it has such a status. It's kinda old... I think I finished this at the beginning of this year... but regardless, I don't think it's too shabby! Thanks for listening, hope you enjoy it!

I came over here because of your musical journey post on your thread and I just had to write something down here. Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were some of the coolest games I've ever played. And then you made a remix here that gave me chills. I'm geeking out so hard right now! This makes me so happy I can't help but smile as I'm writing this down. It's so good!

Step responds:

Haha I'm flattered! Metroid Prime games are just amazing. I'm pretty happy with this cover because even though I think I could've done some better voicing with the instruments, I thought that the orchestral/soundtrack approach was a great idea for the Prime 1 menu theme.

I'm glad you like it!

Reminds me of the Terminator.

Metroid Prime is a good game, and I'm glad that you are so diverse in your musical style. I'd say that you could almost do about anything with music. The synth sounds just added to the positive and determined atmosphere that is portrayed throughout the song.

I would of liked to of heard more refined and expressive brass instruments, though. The french horns seem lacking without any wind power.

I give unto thee... 4.5 out of 5 stars, and a Five VOTEDETH

Step responds:

Whoops, sorry for taking so long to answer. Thanks a lot for the great review! Yeah I was never really that satisfied with East/West Symphonic Orchestra's brass. Ah well!

Glad you like it man.

Fantastic. I'm speechless. This is very well done.

Step responds:

Wow thanks! Very happy you enjoyed it.

I keep listening to this. This is so good man. well, men. manses.

Step responds:

Seems like you like Metroid. :)

Step responds:

Yes, yes I do :3.
