This was supposed to be a main theme for a game that is now no longer in production. It's always important to know the purpose of these things because some may think that a basic mainstream sounding piece made by a great composer might not make sense unless you know the context in which the piece was made for. This is a basic tonal piece made for mainstream and commercial media, so nothing too complicated here harmonically. Although there are some very strong orchestration techniques happening here. Towards the end you'll hear something what most theorists come to believe is called a harmonic line cliche where harmonically the bass/harmony (chord progression roots) are moving down in half steps. Though it can be functionally analyzed it is usually just given the name of a harmonic line cliche. In the case of the melody taking that half step descent it would be a melodic line cliche. Many can argue that they will just make music that sounds good and do it because it does but when making "tonal music" there is always functionality and a reason behind why it sounds the way it does.

Might work as a main title theme or even bits and pieces of it could work in many in-game scenarios. Maybe you can use it in a demo video or something, but whatever you use it for make sure it's for something epic!

Honestly, before I even read your description I could tell this was intended for a video game. I think it sounds great, just like something I'd hear playing some kind of RPG. Sounds a little climatic, but not too intense, as if something mysterious is going on. That's the vibe I get. =)
