A short, simple piece about a farm, and nostalgia for simpler days.
Notes.
1. I've been doing too many epic pieces. Time for a simpler one. No obnoxious builds, wooshy transitions, hard kicks or HUGE BASS. Just simple melody.
2. WOW i'm starting to get really strong visuals while writing music. That's never happened before. I'm really seeing a farm here. Makes me think a lot of Lon-Lon Ranch from Ocarina of Time.
3. Something really interesting happened - I realized that the melody is a character sketch. Once I started seeing the melody as defining the character of the farmer, suddenly everything made sense. It was really amazing. The first bit is a hello, the last bit is goodbye. And I really get a sense of his personality... he's a very good hearted person, but maybe there's a touch of sadness, of loneliness... but aren't we all lonely?
4. And seeing it in that way made it really easy to see what melody lines were essential vs "no he would never say that". I don't know if this makes sense for anyone else but I think I've found a really good way to write meaningful melodies.
5. And ya I'm really proud of that melody. It isn't epic or anything, but I think that each bar communicates something, and the entire melody also says something. Previously I was good at making individual bars say something, but I had difficulty with the bigger picture.
6. Wow, that bended square makes me really nostalgic.
7. 8 bar chord progression 3eva <3<3<3
