this is so good, have you considered ever designing a website around this called like hmmm idk ships compo or something
Imagine sailing... high seas... a shipwreck...
You wake on a shore, somewhere beautiful, with no memory. No recollection of who you are.
Explore this place. Learn. Discover... yourself.
Notes.
1. holy crap, longest song by 2 seconds.
2. orchestral <3
3. if you listen to the chord prog closely, it may trip you up. it sometimes changes slightly.
4. that took more than 10 minutes to render. =o it's those freakin' orchestral soundfonts..
5. that outro-synth sounds absolutely perfect for what it's trying to say. im so happy about it!!!
6. my songs are starting to become stories. i mean, i use them to tell stories. like this song has three definite parts that all tell a cohesive story i think.

Good idea but sailors like salty things like chips so maybe we should call it tortilla compo?
I must say, you are getting better and better everytime. Your doing what im doing with my album songs, trying to show the atmosphere in a scene or story (btw you need to see shadows 07). Now i wish when you sent me that file, you sent me something more amazing and beautiful but maybe some other time i suppose.
Also regarding that, i am very sorry for being awfully quiet with that. Ive had some....roadblocks but i still will finish it no matter what :)
Ha. The thing is that I was really totally unable to write a song like this until at most a week ago. Now I know that the trick is Am-F-C-G... (lol). my inner theoretical musician cringes every time i write a song with those chords.
but yeah next time, something better. or perhaps you start next time :O
It's cool by the way, since I'm back at uni now I don't have tons of free time. no immediate rush. but let's get it out eventually =D
The intro was definitely impressive, as was the rest of the track. The only issue with the orchestral intro was that a few of the chord progressions seemed to change a tad to fast. I dug the ending synth though, holy crap a blast from the past. Reminded both of us of the old Starcraft OST. Ah, good times.
What did you use for the piano? VST or soundfont?
Hah. You say the intro was too short, the last guy said it was too long. Maybe you're right and I should have slowed the chord prog down... I did kinda get that impression. Thanks for the review.
Piano: Um, I think it was from the big NG collection of orchestral soundfonts (along with the strings). Thanks for the review.
Very pretty. The title fits it very well, as it sounds like the owner of voice to the song was shipwrecked, and it sounds like it's calling for help. Lamenting for past mistakes, remembering everyone and everything they love.
My only problem is that I feel as if the song takes a little too long to build up to the really emotional stuff. But that really could just be my ADD talking, so take it with a very small grain of salt.
mmmm... your criticism is intriguing... i'm not going to lie, i really enjoy the songs that slowly build to some sort of awesomeness, so i don't think i'm going to abandon that. ;-) but maybe what i can try to do is make the build itself more interesting, so the core of the song isnt the only cool part. i admit i kinda rushed the big build on this one... so maybe that's what your problem is.
Love the piano at the end!
thanks :)
