Sad songs are pretty sweet. A nice break from all the energy is perfect every now and then.
This is a pretty good example of this break that everyone needs every now and then.
The atmosphere is almost appropriate for the feel you were going after, I'd think carefully about the strength of a drumbeat if I wanted to convey a dead world vibe.
