I wrote this piece with a clear story in my head. I imagined cool, misty morning air and an atmosphere of anticipation. It is the day the men and boys are called to battle, and this piece is about the emotion of a man and father saying farewell to his loved ones. There is no time for sadness, however - whether he returns alive or dead, he will be a hero.
