In 1998 Michael Brutschea was a sophomore at Northeast High School when he purchased his first rap CD, Busta Rhymes' Anarchy. Where musical instruments failed to catch his attention, it was word-play and structure that opened him up to the hip-hop world. Throughout high school, Michael joined the majority of his classmates in writing, collaborating, including the occasional "beef"; all the while experimenting with numerous stage names and groups, including The Natural Disasters, where he picked up the name Hazzard.

Since then, Hazz has lost a few letters from his stage name, but has gained a steady footing with fans and especially in collaboration with other local artists in various circles of Philly's hip-hop community. Far from the lure of fortune, Hazz finds motivation from the goal of bringing music and respect back to Philly and the hope for the creation of an environment where other local artists can find a place in the wide spotlight provided by the City of Brotherly Love.

After several successful shows in 2011, Hazz had taken a leave to work exclusively with Rick Magill. After a solid year of work, Hazz and Rick are releasing their first project together titled, "As the Trains Roll By." A play on where the two live, directly across the street from the Bristol train station. A diverse work influenced by complex wordplay surrounded by a jazz, blues and old school hip hop atmosphere. A different and soothing new sound for the hip hop community.
