This is basically the last track I made for a performance in an obligatory school project I was taking part in. I was in a team of 10 and at the end of our play one of the team members wanted to use this song as a little dance. You can find out more about the project here:

Basically I didn't spend that long on this. I tried to give it a Morocco feel because the point of the project was to represent Morocco's culture, and hence I used traditional instruments that Moroccan music may use, but this is just a sped up version of a part in the intro song I made (linked at the end of the above paragraph), with a piccolo and heavier choir chords thrown in and an epic ending with a duduk embellishment.

If you want to see what instruments I used here, the intro song I linked to has a list of all the instruments somewhere in the author's comments, except the piccolo which is from RECsoprano.

So yeah, not much to say about this. I made it a while ago and thought it wasn't worth submitting but in retrospect having a full list of all of the five songs I made for this project up on Newgrounds would be a pretty nice idea.

I really enjoy your use of percussion in this piece. I've noticed in listening throughout your stuff that you use percussion very well - something that is lacking in a lot of music. You manage to keep things interesting by adding tasteful embellishments. Good melodies here, I like the sort of counterpoint feel you have with the piccolo. I really would like to see this expanded! I think you could make this into something huge. The ending is a bit abrupt - feels kinda like "oh hey I'm done now".

Good work, as always.

Step responds:

Haha thanks! Yeah, this is a bit of quickie... in fact I did expand on this, since this is a short version of a longer song I had made previously, called 'Morocco', which you can find here if you're curious :P.

Yeah the ending is kind tacked on. You're totally right! Glad you like my percussion by the way; I've found that I literally cannot make a song without percussion haha.

Thanks again!

Quite lovely. How did you research the Moroccan influence? What kind of sources did you consult? Just curious. And the track was quite well mixed, too.

Step responds:

Thanks a lot! For research, basically Google was my friend, in particular to find this Moroccan-influenced song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVRxNOlxlFI&feature=related

That song has a main guitar-like instrument which seems to be used a lot in Moroccan songs, so I searched images and found out that the guitar was called an Oud. I happened to have an Oud in my library of samples so I used that!

Thanks again for the review.

This was quite good, even though it was really short, and I really enjoyed it.
Awesome.

Step responds:

Thanks! Yeah it is pretty short but for its purpose in the play I didn't need to make it any longer.

I appreciate the feedback.
