Electronic - House

Author Comments

Just a simple housey dance mix of Terra's famous theme from Final Fantasy VI. It's a pretty melody. I figured a more dance oriented take on it would sound good. You guys be the judge! It's only a WIP so any advice would be great!

EDIT: With the new bassline tweaks I did, it sounds more like trance, but it won't let me change the song name to "Terra's Trance FX", so I'll just leave it as house for now.

I am not a final fantasy fan but this was really nice and enjoyable to listen to.

Glad you're still with us. Was listening to some of your previous works that, believe it or not, I have kept alive since you first made them. As in, I kept them on my PC. And when I got a new PC I transferred them along to the new one. And so on, and so forth. I have never re-downloaded your work, I have only downloaded once and they have came with me. Everywhere! Now that you're back, I can't wait on some more work that I will listen to just now, tomorrow, next week, in a month and maybe even in a few years, yet again, for some of that awesome nostalgia! Great work axeFX :)

Terra's House FX - the latest concoction produced by the one and only mystical AxeFX. It is his return to the Newgrounds portal, and perhaps even a return to consistent musical production once again. Is it up to par? Is it worth the listen? Should we look forward for more?

Do not worry, tkrow21 is here. Not only does he have no realistic knowledge when it comes to the art of music, but he's also amazingly biased towards his friend, AxeFX. Nonetheless, it will be the best review posted for this song, bested by none.

And so, Terra's House FX begins much like any other song within its' genre. It's house, and we start of with a standard 4/4 kick with slight percussive variances. At 00:22, we get an inkling of the melody to come, only to have it disappear at 00:45, with the bass taking full control. It's not until 01:15 that we can hear the song in all of its' glory. The melody, aye, it pleases the ears with just enough flair. And the bassline? It's strong, but it's careful not to overwhelm. And what about the underlying beat? Well, it's standard house, but it has got just enough of its own thing going on to keep it from falling into the land of generic drum beats. What we've got here is a song, a song that's an image of something that could be greater, but at the same time doesn't want to take a leap into something riskier. It's like a sugar cookie. Yeah, it's fucking good, but on the other hand, it's just a sugar cookie. No wondrous flavors to surprise your taste buds. Same thing with this song, it's pretty fucking good, but no surprises. And of course it wouldn't be an AxeFX production if it didn't finish way too soon. It feels like only a part of a song.

But I'll be damned if it wasn't a good part of a song.

AxeFX, you best continue working, you sly motherfucker.

If this song was a sugar cookie, it would be a really good sugar cookie.

I haven't heard the original, but this sounds really funky and cool. Don't worry about changing the name, at this tempo it still sounds like House. I really like that bassline, it really drives the song and give its funk. I wish you had made this longer! Awesome work :)

axeFX responds:

Thanks man! I still intend to extend this, I just have a tendency to take a break after half completion. I'll let you know if/when I ever finish this.
