Halfway ready, but I would like some pointers - I feel it might become awesome.

That was really awsome dude. Great drums and even better synth. It almost had like a type of mystery movie feal to it. I would absolutely love to see someone make a movie about hitler hacking linux and use this track. That would be funny as shit.

awesomeness.

I think the bongos would be very much in place if you simultaneously introduced a light bass-drum/percussive-rhythm over the same rhythm as the intro synth... but there is definately something about that bongo part that I like, and I would hate to see it completely done away with; perhaps just de-emphasized.

Anyway, this one is deliciously chaotic, and chaos makes for the best kinds of music in my book. I love that organ line; it reminds me of something out of the sega-genesis videogame "DeCap-Attack," which is a compliment of high caliber, since the game has music to rival the likes of Sonic and Mario, yet with a dark and twisted edge.

Can't wait to hear (and download) the full version; 5/5

WinTang responds:

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you categorized your compliment yourself, because I have little expertise in the world of videogames :)
I did not really understand what you meant with that first line. It's too late anyway, because it's finished!! Check it out, right away!

I agree with your first review.

The bongo thing seemed a little out of place. Maybe it should fade in the middle of the song. A smooth part would be cool, but I think the song should transend from smooth to hectic to smooth to hectic, and the finish with SUPER HECTIC DNB GOODNESS! Then would it become "awesome"

WinTang responds:

Ok, it's obvious I'll have to look into the bongos :) I'll experiment on and something will come out. Hopefully.
And don't worry, the finish will be SUPER FUCKING MIND-BLOWING or something.
Cheers for the review and high marks!

well shit...all 10's. You deserve it

Pretty hardcore sounding. Great beat, and it mixes well with the rest of the song. It's very hectic, but it really works.

Only halfway done eh? The first thing that pops into my mind is to have a totally contrasting part that is smooth, flowing and acts somewhat as a resolution. However, it is only a short vision because it can't keep the chaos at bay.

Haha, just a thought. Cool stuff mang!

WinTang responds:

Thanks heaps for the full marks! Yay.

That is a great idea you gave me. I've already progressed further into the song, but I hadn't thought of such a contrasting part. I'll come up with something. But the ending is going to be mean. Very mean. (So was Hitler, I've been told.)

I'll finish somewhere in the next few days, but please everyone keep the reviews coming, it's an experiment and I can use a lot of feedback.

Unique piece

The bass in this one is phat! Drums at the start were wicked.

I think the arp you use after the drums are introduced might be a tad busy, some of the chords at the end of it seem to clash a little bit too much with the organ.

Ahh, the organ, you don't hear that very often in drum and bass but it gives it a nice Kill Bill feel. It might be 10% funkiness overkill though, I would personally introduce it a tad slower. And when the sustained organ chords come in, it's definately clashing with the bass. Maybe drop the bass a little at that point?

I'm loving the square arpeggiator that comes in towareds the end!

Overall, killer song and I'd love to hear it in its finished form.

WinTang responds:

Interesting things there. Yeah, I have been a bit lazy on the bass, I just loop it and transpose to subdominant after the part with the sustained organ chords.

I think I'll fade the organ part in, because I like the chaos to enter quickly, but I can imagine your remark on the "funkiness overkill". That arpeggio will probably remain the way it is though, I love the clashing of the chords - I'm often looking for a hint of bitonality when I'm aiming for a creepy feel.

Thanks a lot for your detailed and helpful review man, when it's finished I'll review some of your stuff and point you to the final version :)
