This is a project me and my friend made for our Norwegian class. It's a tribute to the late Jon Nødtveit of Dissection. The song is a acoustic folk/black metal song, and is inspired by Dissection and Stieg Larsson.
Software used: Reaper, Reason 4, EZ drummer, Guitar rig 4
Hardware used: Guitar rig Session i/o, Samson Q1U, Cort EVL A6

I love it... but there's a passage from "where dead angels lie" (that's way I took away 0.5, maybe this is a medley kinda song, that's all I could recognize). And another thing is that the bass guitar is too in the front and the opened hi hat... but the snare, crashes and kick drums sounds good. Kudos to who mixed this song.

Shmokko responds:

the passage is indeed from "where dead angels lie", but it's acoustic and the tempo is slower. It is kinda ment as a cameo for Jon, as this song is a tribute. I agree about the bass. I was planning on recording it, but i had problems with my bass guitar. I did the bass in Reason instead, and it turned out a little boomy. The hihat is a vanilla DKFH sample, aswell as the rest of the drumkit. I am not a big fan of those samples, but i added equal reverb to all the parts of the drumkit, and it ended up much better imo. I didn't really put that much effort into the mixing, but i find it much easier to mix acoustic music, so it turned out pretty neat. Thanks for the feedback :)

I'm feeling this!
As I'm kind of a sucker for anything folk or blackmetal this is pure candy, and it's a shame pieces such as these are as rare as they are, on Newgrounds. Reminds me a little of Sancta Poenas around little over a one minute in - propably just the swedish words making me think that.

The melodies and atmosphere especially are great!

No matter how hard I try, I can't do any decent blackmetal, so it's good to hear some others around here doing one hell of a good job at that.

I'll be giving your other uploads a listen too.

Shmokko responds:

It's good to hear that you liked it. I did not really put too much time into this song though. I will probably make more songs like these in the future.
