*** You will need headphones or decent speakers to catch the low end! Otherwise this will probably sound tinny and terrible!

Nothing fancy ... guess I was in a bad mood last night or something, and this is the result. Could probably still use some tweaking, decided to put it up here because maybe some input will motivate me to perfect it rather than just add it to the pile of unfinished ideas I have taking up hard drive space (as is my tendency).

(If you want to participate in something of a social experiment, listen to the whole track and think of what it makes you think of BEFORE you read any further ...)

What came to my mind as this was forming is the sad ending of a movie. Someone hunches over the body of the hero, perhaps sharing some parting dialogue, mourning his/her loss. The camera overhead slowly and continually pans out to capture the whole depressing scene of the mourner, the hero in a pool of blood, and the bleak scene of the hero's last stand. The screen goes black and the credits start to roll, the movies is over with no hope of a happy resolution.

That sort of thing. Now what did you think of?

I really liked the atmosphere you created with this piece! Very heavy and dramatic.
The pulsing base in the background is fantastic and adds a lot to the sad feel.
Keep up the good work ^^

Also, on a completely separate note, the review regarding suicide was pretty hilarious.

This song is full of suicide.

Man, I've never wanted to shove a gun down my throat and pull the trigger more than I do right now. I like it though, It's a good suicidal feeling. Not the bad kind.

Um ... thanks? :)

It appears the "hero" was defeated and exiled with no thought of hope...walking through endless desert and forest until he finds the edge of the world and thinks whether or not to take another step forward, then is gently awoken from depression from a beam of light ~fade out~ -End of Game until the developers come up with a sequel-

skyood responds:

Hey, a scenario where the hero doesn't end up dead! We have an optimist! :)

Thanks for taking the time to review, and I love the "edge of the world" part. Can definitely see that.

it made me think of s hero's last stand moments, that i've seen and i can imagine it with this music too

Very nice

Strong low end and good harmonies! Also, very nice use of panning and effects. I just found that high pitched sound around the middle a little too piercing and distracting, but maybe that was your intent.

As for your question, it made me think of the grief and uncertainty felt by someone about to commit suicide. With a mixture of thoughts coming and going, some more piercing than others. Finger on the trigger, not knowing how things will end... we are left with the doubt whether or not he made it through

So yeah, very good piece

There's an angle I hadn't thought of, but I can totally see it.

If you're referring to the very middle (1:55ish), on further listening back, I kind of agree. It's something that if I take a second pass at this song I might change. Not primarily because it's piercing but because it almost sounds harmonica-ish. I think it might be the interval, but I still want something on that high end otherwise it will be all mids with the piano. ... and I'm rambling.

Thanks for the review!
