Happy 2012, this'll be my first foray into the new year.
I spent my holiday vacation in San Diego, with the intention of being in a warmer climate, away from the midwestern winters for once.
Wow, was I in for a surprise! The temps out there didn't feel any much more different from the temps back home. Palm trees and whatnot abound, yet I could still kinda see my breath.
I returned home just before New Years, and found myself asking the titular question this song is asking. Oddly enough after I thought of this song during New Years, it indeed began to snow; can't say the same for everyone else. I'm sure the Floridians WISH they could ask that question during their humid 70s winters.
Also, while out in SD, my big bro who lives there, wondered why it is that I don't have a lot of drums in my work. It seems that most songs out there, even ambient ones these days have some drum-age to maintain a "cool" status. I myself don't really know why, but it's perhaps because either he hasn't heard all my work or I'm not all that deft with percussion outside of orchestral.
An alternate title I had for this song in fact was "Am I kewl yet?", a common song title I've seen among a number of NG musicians who want to sound "mainstream".
