My submission for the 2011 December NAC: "Winter Wonderland"

Everything by me.

aside from the rather subdued vocals.. this song is EXCELLENTLY done. I love that small cafe corner music feel you got going at some high class christmas party.

I can picture men in tuxedos sipping shampagne and women in cocktail dresses.. very good imagery!

Love it!

Pretty much what I was going for, I'm glad it came across.

Nice work.

This is a nice work and I think you're a good singer, but it sounds like you have trouble with some notes. Although, I don't think this would be easy to sing. I like the tenor solo. I would love to hear an instrumental version of this. The drums get kinda repetitive with the constant cymbals, which seem to have little or no dynamic variation, which makes the drums sound less realistic. Maybe trying turning the drums down or putting in longer fills that give a break from them. Other than that, good job!

Adam-Beilgard responds:

Yeah, it gets pitchy, especially around longer notes. I don't consider myself a singer, but the contest's original rules said had to have vocals! The tenor solo was my favorite part and the drums were my least favorite and it kinda shows. Things to consider for my next track.

Thanks for the review!

Very nice, it's like real jazz... Wait, it IS jazz! =D
I love it!

Yeah, I hate to be a downer, but there's not a lot of jazz in the jazz section. But then again, every category has that problem.

I'm glad you liked it!

Nice Voice

I'm very impressed by the voice, this sounds like a real jazz tune you would hear walking into a decent jazz bar. The vocals level sits well in the mix but it could also be turned up as well. Well done bud, I hope you sent this to a lady friend as well, I'm sure she'd dig it.

Also, I'm sure you made all the tunes but I'm curious if these are real instruments, they all sound real. Just curious!

Adam-Beilgard responds:

Thanks a lot! And yes, the lady friend digs it (except she says it gets stuck in her head).

The drum/bass/piano are from the Garritan instrument library in Finale (so, VSTs, basically). The tenor solo and voice were recorded live.

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the review!
