Alright, I believe you should be the last lightweight submitter. I totally forgot about this song, so I apologize. Anyways, a really good song is what you put together here. Okay to listen to, and there's HEADBANGING!!!
-Anyways, on to the review!
Originality: A nice intro, nice and peaceful, until you get into the crazy chorus. The intro and outro (you're ending, just so you know) we're really the best parts of your songs. Catchy, and everything seemed to match. You had a great mixing of the guitars, and your voice really matched the mood of the song in the intro. Chorus was crazy too, it was a move from slightly depressed to a happier tune. And with that, you hinted some ambient-like stuff into the song. Nice job!
Originality Score: 24/25
Diversity: Lots of stuff, you have added. Drums, guitars, vocals, and other instruments that seemed to make the song flow really nicely. Of course, I see why you get at me with my songs being repetitive. Though you have a basic verse, chorus, and bridge system, you were able to do so much with it. You've defenitely got a talent for writing music.
Diversity Score: 25/25
Clarity: Good in the beginning. Mixed really well. But there's the chorus and the outro that really need some balance issues worked out. Not all of the instruments seem to be heard really well, like your guitars are too soft and you're drums slightly too loud for what you're really going for. It's played so loud that it seems that the drum sound is distorted. This is the only thing holding you back from making this a really solid piece.
Clarity Score: 18/25
Effort: You've really put out your effort so much to make this such a great song, but you ruined with your clarity. It's a good song, don't get me wrong, but what you've done is put a great piece on bad sound, which doesn't mix well. Spend some time working towards a better recording system or the such.
This isn't an end of the world thing, the clarity doesn't kill your song and make it really bad or anything, but the clarity is spliting the difference betwen good and awesome.
Effort Score: 23/25
Overall Score: 90/100
Not bad, keep it up! I've really got nothing else to say but good job!
Awesome review man, you're really making friends with this stuff! :)
Your comments made me very happy, and I can only agree on the sound quality. It has never been intended to be more than a demo. Recording was analogue, and rushed - the playing was so inconsistent in the louder parts that we couldn't find the time to do the in-depth mixing it would require...
Just for the heck of it: the song features one guitar track only, along with bass, drums, piano and vocals.
Big big thanks for the detailed detailed review review!
Are you sure u aint my singer????
mate this is freaky, u sound just like him, same vocal style and everything. i'm gonna listen to ur stuff a bit more, i'm really baffled as to how i ain't listened to u more, u have a really gud and varied style, which is very cool. kudos man, keep em coming, and ur chorus section soundd a bit like placebo or muse, uberness there my friend.
Haha, I don't know man, this is not the first time a hint of a "parallel life" reaches me :)
Seriously though, great to hear that I interest you. You're an awesome artist yourself. I may not have reviewed you yet but I will soon, and I'm pretty positive I gave you 5's on several submissions. Hope to hear from you again!
Very very tight song
Everything was put together very well. You have a nice voice too, it's certainly a welcome change from all the 13-year-old kids trying to rap or do some good ol' scream-o.
You've got some great music hear! 5/5
Thanks a lot! Your stuff is on my soon-to-review list as well, very good, it's just so many I need to take some time for it...
more good stuff!
You, sir, have talent. Once again, the only thing I can suggest is working on the production (which I can understand is difficult when you don't have thousands of dollars to spend on equipment). I'd love to hear what you have to say about my song, "Pop My Words with your Teeth," since it's a similar one-man band kinda thing, and also switches between sweet and sour.
I didn't do the mixing myself, but it was a bit of a rushed recording - we had to record seven songs in one day.
Thanks for the appreciation again. You know I love your stuff, so I like having you review me :)
What the last guy said.
