First Memoirs

First Impression; He has some ok idea's.
However in this song I feel that they were poorly executed.
You need new instruments, as you were going to use FLStudio 6, there's a couple of half-crappy ones in the default package.
www.hammersound.net <--- You'll find alot of good samples there.

I liked the flute/string section a while in the song, but then the strings disappeared.
And the strings in the beginning was an exact copy of the classical piece "Canon".

You have some promise like many others, but keep continuing and you can become great.

Ps; Take the time to check out some of my new stuff, ok? ^^
It's the same sort as MaestroSorrow and MilkMan_Dan creates.

Sounds abit over done.

It starts of o.k but then it turns into a bunch of crap noise. The synth you chucked in was crap, you really need to think about what you're submitting.

Some advice. Learn to make music before you punish my ears with this crap.

LoneInstrumentalist responds:

interesting review, but honestly, i dont have the resources to put gold up there, u try making a tune outa acid wif no music producing background

anyway, appreciate that someone left a review b4 0-ing my work

ta, but could be a tad more generous :p

cheerios

Submit more stuff!

Hi! As promised, a review for you. Very late.

I really like how you experiment with percussive synths, and mix a classically based chord structure with ambient elements.

But a big con is that you parallelly harmonized the melody with perfect 4ths (E-F-G with A-Bb-C). Since the perfect 4th is a dissonant interval, that makes it sound very choppy, and overall, not very pretty... so what I would do is experiment with a countermelody rather than transposing the original melody - not only because it will work better, but also because it will tickle your imagination further.

Anyway, submit more stuff - I guarantee you that you will go far if you just experiment a lot and have others shine their light on it. It works for me, I get better with every helpful review.

I'll see you on MSN then? :)

4/5 on this one.

LoneInstrumentalist responds:

Awesomeness

This is perhaps your best song Lone, and I am rather upset by your description. I hope that this is not you saying goodbye forever. I think you have some serious potential, and should definatly not give up!

If I showed you my first song, you would laugh at me.

Don't be afraid to keep fumbling, even birds learn to fall, before they learn to fly.

Enough with my, stay on teh board Rant, onto my Review!

I am very impressed by the percussional system in this song, I KNOW that this is the best percussional work you've presented to us so far.

I also like the choicing of instrumentation, it all seems to sing towards one united point, which is really what songs should be about.

When that oboe part kicked in, I was quite captivated by it. If I am not mistaken, you had used it for another one of yoursongs, but this time, you mixed it up, and it sounded just damn fine.

Then you transitioned it to for the violin to play that melody, which was a great segment for myself, as I am a string fanatic XD!

However, a few points that should be pointed out.

Before the oboe part came in, like 5 seconds before, a lot of percussional sounds, and other sounds, were just dropped. I think, if you had kept all the instruments going, and then, with a nice bang, go into that oboe part.

I truly enjoyed ths song Lone. I listened to it LITERALLY 10 times, and did not tire of it.

Whatever you decide however, I hope the best for you ^^.

5/5 from me. Whoever voted so low, should go to hell.

LoneInstrumentalist responds:

i tried~ realli did, but this is (if its good enuf) a tribute to ur comments X] i extended the melody for string users like u *stares at everyone

anyway~everything was the same (suprised? cept the cymbals) just added the echoe effect (kinda stuffed up on the percs >.<)

*sigh* gotta find that low voter X]

this is actually just a "goodbye" of acid pro (ask on msn) i'll still use it, but now for roughs, since i realli should move on to FL6 (yea, its been there a while now...)

cheerios~ u keep composing too
