Hey NG!

It's been quite a while since I've released anything as life's been mad busy since the middle of August. I apologize to those that've missed me! :D And a big :P to those that didn't.

This track is 3 firsts for me! First new tune made using the Reason 6 upgrade, first time trying my hand at Dubstep and first time recording & using female vocals.

I'm not a very religious person but am decidedly spiritual -- all religions have a few good values, why not just take the best of each? :) Anyways, I struggled to come up with a name for this one at first but decided on St. Peter's Gate because, to me, the song feels like a warrior's life story.

---

Tossing and turning to nightmares of battle & blood, a warrior's dream shifts to a place of light and beauty where he finally finds himself at peace. Rising from his slumber he finds himself once more thrown into the midst of gore and mayhem. Born a warrior, he dies a warrior and is taken to the gates of Heaven for Judgement.

He is, sadly, denied. >:A The bridge of the song focuses on his hard journey through Hell, as he fights off Satan's minions. He eventually completes his penance and begins his redemption and journey back to Heaven. Of course, maybe it was all just a dream....?

Steady, and awesome!

I love the steady build and the great Wobbles at the end! Its fantastic! First on dubstep and i say do it again! Mixing house and dubstep would be awesome. Maybe a dubstep with some rap in it. But i don't know if you can rap...
Anyways. Its pretty sexy.

durn responds:

Thanks Hades! :D House and Dubstep would be a great combination! For now, though, how about Half-tempo beat and Trance? :d Go check out my new tune - Seasons!

chill spin on dubstep!

I really liked your choice in leads, bass, ambiance in this one!

This song was really different dude, and I liked that a lot; The melodies/ transitions were really original sounding! The drop at 2:03 was sick as fck, and I really loved the way you changed it up as it progressed as well!

Things to take a seconds look at:
- The overall Mixing/ Mastering of this song is a bit flawed.
- The bass could use a little bit of cleaning up in the low/ mid end of the EQ Spectrum
- The drums could use a bit more work; they sound a bit fake/ dry
- The vocal work is okay, but the female vocal lines sound a bit weird imo; the vocal build before 2:03 could use some cleaning up as well

Overall not bad buddy, but I would love to hear this polished up a bit!

durn responds:

Thanks dude. Mixing/Mastering I do all by ear and I have hearing problems in the high-end spectrum so that's prolly that. The drums you're definitely right about, I've since attended to that issue in present->future songs. Agreed, vocals are new to me, especially since I'm recording them. I'd love to get it polished up as well, but it'll either take more time away or other ears to do that for me.

Nice

I like how it starts really calming and the gets more intense as the song goes on. That was pretty cool.

I lke how it has "breaks" and transitions that really complement the song, work with the flow really well, and manage not to clash at all.

The voices were a little weird and sounded a tad bit off, but definitely weren't bad. I can also say the same thing about the dubstepish parts as well. You still did a good job of not making the dubstep bass drop parts too harsh which is good.

Lastly, it really fits what you were going for and I thought it was cool how well the song fit with that last part of of the description.

Overall, a pretty good song. You've got some talent.

durn responds:

Thanks shrimpchris. I spent a lot of time focusing on keeping things moving and evolving in this one. Vocals are still new grounds for me, I'm slowly getting more accustomed to using them but it will still take time for me to get it totally right. :) Glad to see you also liked the description! :D

Good song

The intro of this song reminds me of some old german science fiction series (Commander Perkins), heh.
The song is pretty nice. It sounds very deep and dirty and yet the vocals and the higher pitched melodies make it somewhat relaxing as well. Very interesting mix.

I also like the progression of the song. It starts off pretty much "leight weight" and then slowy becomes more heavier towards the end. This makes the song very interesting to listen to and the listener won't get bored halfway through the song. Nice work!

durn responds:

I was going for a more relaxed feel to this since that's just what I do, I guess. Lol. I paid a lot of attention to progression in this track and made sure to mix in elements between parts to lend to transition. Thanks for the review, Haggard. :)

Chill and dirty at the same time!

I heard this on Xmillsa's Youtube page and noticed the NG link in the description. Just thought I'd drop by and give ya a 5!

This is sickkkk :)

durn responds:

w00t! Thanks JebbaL. :D
