Here's another one of my ideas which I never continued. I was very proud of this when I started it and had some really awesome ideas for it, but I lost inspiration for it and I suddenly dislike how it sounds.

This is a remake of my old song, 'Cobra':
http://www.newgrounds.com /audio/listen/308377

My brother says he prefers the original so that's not such good encouragement for me to ever continue this...

By the way, it uses East/West Symphonic Orchestra Silver for all of the sounds, except the breakbeat which is mostly Vengeance Essential House samples (along with some random free drum samples from this site: http://www.darkbeats.com/
sampleswap/). Despite having the East/West VST for a very long time, this is the first time I ever tried out the ever so badass violin scratching effects that come with the library.

Enjoy, I guess.

Okay, I agree with your bro for some of it...

The orchestra part on its own is just as awesome as it was in the original, but the drums, well, I don't know what to say. They just don't have that same impact as the original. I'd suggest using rock kit samples rather than electronic kit ones. Here's a list of what I think you should do:

1. Replace electronic drums with rock drums
2. Continue the song all the way through
3. Extend
4. Add guitar
5. ???? (optional)
6. Profit! (optional)

Good luck with it dude!

Thanks for the review man!

Yeah I guess the orchestral elements are better than the percussion here. I'm quite proud of the orchestral effects I used throughout the song, but the percussion is pretty iffy, it's true.

I don't know if I'll ever be continuing it, but thanks for the helpful pointers! Hopefully my newer rock song has better drums :P.

Thanks again.

Soooooo

At 0:31-0:47, the attack times on those delicious horn/brass instruments are surprisingly high -- kind of wrecks the solid beat that the drums have going. The melody that they play sounds like a scale; a little boring :(

I love the way it starts, though. Great cinematic entrance!

I'M GIVING YOU A 7 HOW DOES IT FEEL MWAHAHA

Seriously though, good job.

:D

Also, let me know when you upload next so I can pay you back for all those NGADM reviews, eh?

Hey man, thanks for reviewing!

"At 0:31-0:47, the attack times on those delicious horn/brass instruments are surprisingly high -- kind of wrecks the solid beat that the drums have going."

Agreed... I think that's as low as the brass sample can go in attack time though.

"The melody that they play sounds like a scale; a little boring :("

Haha yeah I made that melody ages ago when I was making the first version of this. Therefore I can't exactly change it, but I see what you mean :P.

"I love the way it starts, though. Great cinematic entrance!"

Yeah, I'm quite proud of the intro!

"I'M GIVING YOU A 7 HOW DOES IT FEEL MWAHAHA"

Heartbreaking, man. Absolutely heartbreaking :(.

"Seriously though, good job."

Thanks! Not so proud of this one though, lol.

:D

"Also, let me know when you upload next so I can pay you back for all those NGADM reviews, eh?"

Aw thanks. You don't have to, though!

Anyway, if you really feel compelled to, then my song A New World is probably one of my best recent ones if you want to review that.

Thanks again for the feedback man.

Nice intro.

All of your instruments flowed nicely together, but I think there could have been a bigger build up towards your main theme of the song. Then again, it is only a WIP so I am sure you have thought of that. ;)

I'm terrible at reviewing WIPs, because I don't know what the other person has planned for the song. Therefore, I'll end this review now. (I am also in the public library with limited time). Excuses, I know.

By the way, I uploaded a new song incase you are interested.

Enough rambling. Me go now. BYE.

Step responds:

Lol, thanks! I agree about the buildup thing. I'm proud of it but I do think I could bring it out more without making the song clip. Which is what I find very hard :P.

Yeah I'm pretty bad at reviewing WiP's too, haha. Anyways thanks for reviewing!

Wow.

Just wow. Now this just screamed in my face "SIT THE FUCK DOWN, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN!" and I was obliged to follow its orders. This has to be one of the best songs of yours Ive heard in a while. Its a pity its not finished. I just love the tune, the sounds, the instruments and it worked so well. I have to say youre being very harsh on yourself, although being fair, there will always be someone who doesnt like something. But personally I think its really good.

The effects in it made it sound really nice and smooth, the build up was pretty damn awesome, especially with the violin. I personally think that you should give it a shot at finishing it (If possible) but only if you feel that you can and should. Else leave it as it is, atleast you submitted it, albeit unfinished. Im going to go listen to the original sometime. Awesome song 10/10 5/5

Wow man, I can always count on you to give me awesome reviews. Thanks a lot, as always!

"Just wow. Now this just screamed in my face "SIT THE FUCK DOWN, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN!" and I was obliged to follow its orders."

Haha, that kinda reminds me of my Maths teacher :3.

"This has to be one of the best songs of yours Ive heard in a while. Its a pity its not finished."

That's pretty weird because I personally think it sounds pretty bad. Although maybe my standards are too high. I think the more experience you have making music, the harsher you are on yourself lol.

"I just love the tune, the sounds, the instruments and it worked so well. I have to say youre being very harsh on yourself, although being fair, there will always be someone who doesnt like something. But personally I think its really good."

Well I'm glad you like it, then. I might continue it, dunno.

I'm pretty proud of the buildup but I feel as though it needs a bit more oomph...

According to my brother the original is better, although the original sounds immensely unprofessional and has terrible mixing. Or maybe I'm just being harsh on myself again xD.

Thanks a lot for the review!
