~Spread your wings of courage and jump. Above the cloudline, all things are possible.

This is likely going to be put with a string ensemble. It'll also have mallets, and perhaps even some latin lyrics in it as soon as I can figure out how to put them together. Don't worry, I'll upload that if it's recorded. If I get lyrics to it, I'll update this as well. The version with real instruments will be uploaded separately, in case people like this version better.

Grr. When I decided to fix up the ending and another part I didn't like as much, I opened the file and noticed that my drums, ReWire, and mixer had been erased (thankfully, not the midi data for the drums, but they had been changed from midi out to a sampler). Anyway. I had to fix up the mixer again, so maybe it's mixed a bit better than before. I can only hope it was.

Please tell me if there's anything I can improve. I love feedback, so don't be shy, even if you think there's a lot wrong with it. We can all improve, can't we?

-I do not get frustrated with low scores. I get frustrated with low scores that have no explanation. Even one sentence would be fine, as long as it's a little helpful.

I've had this song on loop for at least a half hour. It's incredibly relaxing and has the power to get you lost in thought.

SkyeWint responds:

Hey there! Glad you like it so much! I generally like songs that are relaxing and allow you to close your eyes and let your mind wander. As the title of this says, it's meant to embody being above the cloudline. Does it fit that? ;)

Well this has a very calm feel to it as if you were beginning to see good things happening in everyone's life and wondering what more there was that was going to be happening in life too. The tune is calm and reminds me of a lot of old RPG video games as well which is pretty cool anyways I think at least.

The ambient synth sounds very calming and really nice on the ears I think. The drums are glitched which makes them pretty cool I think and very nice. The bass is very deep and calm. The synth is very strange feeling yet really nice at the same time too I think. The beat is very calming.

Overall, very nice beat, also kind of makes me think of Resident Evil 1 save room for some reason as well strangely.

Very nice!

This is a really different piece, but in a totally good way; I totally dig the Chicane-style Ambient vibe dude, super chill.

The instruments all sound very nice, clear, and wonderfully mixed. I loved the way that your leads dynamically rose and fell particularly. The drums were perfectly ambient, and the feint reverb/ echos were wonderfully done.

Things I would have done differently:
- Some of your piano samples are a bit clippy/ pitchy
- The piano/ string melodies got a bit out of hand in a couple spots

Overall though, this submission is very chill.

"Distant" synth ftw!

This was fantastically put together. There is a LOT of reverb, but that's okay, because it gives it an airy feeling. Great job, and don't mind low scores, those are just from nutty portal idealists or burnt-out listeners who are zero--bombing everything

SkyeWint responds:

Thanks. :P /Something/ tells me you use FL Studio. Actually, there's probably less reverb than you think. I didn't put reverb on the Distant synth (it comes with the synth), I only put it on the guitar(s), the piano, and a drum or two. It's about 50/50.

The low scores I don't mind. I only mind them when people don't say what's wrong. I know a lot of people are mindless zerobombers. But still. :\ It's not that much to ask, and who knows? ^_^ They might actually take the time to write a sentence and be slightly more productive.

Dude, very nice. I haven't heard an ambient piece this emotionally appealing in a while.

At this point in time, just stay the course. I can't wait to hear a finished product.

SkyeWint responds:

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I enjoy creating ethereal atmospheres that sound emotionally appealing.

I'll definitely be finishing this, don't worry. Hope you enjoy it when it's done. :)
