This is a short loopable piece that I created for a live boardgame titled Grid.
Last week my room mate (also a student of the Games Academy in Berlin) came up to me and asked me whether I could create some music for him. He told me that it's for a hacking live board game which is actually played on a tiled floor with people representing the pieces themselves. It would be demonstrated on the Games Culture Circle. It was the week with most exams but I still told him that I could do it.
So instead of learning I ended up working on this thing. On one hand they of course wanted something that would fit to the setting but they also wanted the music to flow smoothly so it wouldn't get on your nerves after hearing it for the tenth or twentieth time. The most important feature however was a definite beat as all players can make one step per beat (it's like each kick defines the next turn). Apparently this piece satisfied their needs perfectly. Unfortunately I couldn't come when the game was finally presented but the reception was very good. Oh yeah, and I think that I passed the exams just fine.
