This is more of a rough demo, it's not really a finished product, needs some polishing and a sample of a girl saying "wanna dance?" at the pause.

This song starts out with a sad melancholic riff and gets very happy. It also has a wubwubwub/dubstep-esque breakdown.

Any/all comments/reviews are welcome and greatly appreciated:]

i think that a good solid harmony would make me like this song more
like the string entrance at 1:43 i believe it adds structure to the song gives it a stepping stool yaknow most of your song seems to lack it due to lack of melody
i did also like the counter melody there at 3:02

Daydream-Anatomy responds:

At 1:43 it does sound kinda empty huh?
hm...I might experiement.

Thanks for the review:]

Thanks man, appreciate it:]

I make my songs in fl studio 8 XXL, mostly stock samples too, but trancecrafter has a killer tutorial on mastering drums. The vsti's i used in this are z3ta+ (the wubs, the leads, almost everything but the violin and bell) and garritans pocket orchestra for the bells and violin. Z3ta+ is my most used synth thing.

My opinion is that the intro could have used a softer drum kit, perhaps even some reverb. Everything is punching through just right but that doesn't mean the intro can't have it's own unique drum kit. 1:31 could have used some really high freq pad just mellowly doing it's own thing. Even some crash cymbals would have been nice.

This is a really good start for a really ace production but it falls a little short for me. Melodically it's perfect. The rhythms are nice too. This track needs more mid range background intangibles to really stand out and be unique. G'luck!!!

I went lazy on the crashes and stuff until I figure out what I wanna use to transition the parts, tbh all I got is FL stock drums, and like, 5 samples, I edit them like crazy though. I'm gonna strongly consider at least using a different kick in the intro:3 A different kit would really set it apart, which I'm thinking would be good, or making a copy of the drums, and making it softer or something, I'll experiment.

I'm pretty proud of a lot of melodies, usually I try to have simultaneous/dueling leads if it can fit without hindering the other. A lot of times it's just one arping, or something like that, and one playing a melody, but I make it complicated sometimes:3

On the other hand eq'ing, mixing, and mastering are my vice:/

dude you know what's weird, I was listening to your hania remix, before I even saw your user nameO.o coincidental huh? I remixed Haru song too, but your's is a lot cleaner and polished, imo. I really like hte part where the vocals are dropped out and it's just dub.

Thank you for the kind and helpful review^^

Pretty neat stuff

Liked the drastic transition in mood, however, regarding the intro: not a huge fan third chord voicing. Not sure, but sounds almost like 2nd inversion (with a 4th between the lower voices?) which makes it rather uneven and all. Having some trouble making out what happens on the two last beats of the last measure but it's a bit jarring as a first-time listener.

As for the rest, I'm not very knowledgable about techno, but it sounds pretty good to me, except the wub could perhaps use a little less of the lowest low end and more low mids, on the breakdown first and foremost. That, and some parts felt like they could just a tad of support in the lower registers, not neccesarily something bassy as the wub, but just a little something - the 01:43 part for example, was nice in itself, but felt slightly off coming from the 01:31 which wasn't very bassy either.

And on a totally random note, are you stratkat from UG?

I know what you mean with the spectrum being a little empty during what I'd call the 2nd verse, I might fix that, this is just a loop with the outline for the song it in, though I won't make any drastic changes if I decide to build upon this. But I think I might like that part how it is, idk.

And yea I'm stratkat on pretty much everything, UG, psn, newgrounds, other stuff idr.^^
