A jazz improv I did; not much to say about it, enjoy! :)

You can listen to much more of my music on youtube.

Soothing yet..

It manages to project an animation of itself. I can't say I'm a profound listener to Jazz music since I take Old School Rap music as my cup of tea. Although I am a fan of Jazz music as I have a tendency to listen to it while reading Plato's Republic with my hot cocoa.
Still, that doesn't exclude me from praising what an elegant piece you have here! Seriously, 7:29 minutes long? The longest Jazz music in Newgrounds I've seen so far. Its rare for me to login my account simply to leave a comment. Though when I do, it means its worth anyone's time to give a vote. Sir, keep on making music. The world needs "Intellectual" music as oppose to usual mainstream garbage we keep hearing on the radio.
10/10 & 5/5. Its obvious this track deserves it.

MrMusicalLion responds:

I've barely listened to any Jazz in my whole life, so don't worry about that. ^_^ I listened to some and I thought 'WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY?!' because what I had in mind, what I knew Jazz *should* be like, had been lost, it was not in the music - I could only hear noise. So I decided I would make my own Jazz, and this was born.

Thanks for the comment and the support, I appreciate it, the feedback spurs me on to do more and more!

Ahh, I haven't heard jazz in so long. Glad to know that it isn't dead. :)

MrMusicalLion responds:

haha nice, glad we're of the same opinion ;)

I get this image of a city cafe while it's dark and rainy, that's a good thing. What I believe makes good jazz music. Thank you for sharing this, I love it.

MrMusicalLion responds:

that's a nice image, I love that sort of atmosphere. Thanks for the review :)

i love it

simplicity at its best.
very smooth
a breath of fresh air after listening to jazz with techno beats/ synths (yuck)
don't worry bout odd notes. just act like it was supposed to be there(this is jazz after all)
look forward to more improv's

MrMusicalLion responds:

True, most of the time in jazz I don't care about what notes I play, that's what I love about making jazz music so much. I can quite literally go crazy. ^_^

Currently working on a Jazz Improv album in fact. Will post more improvs soonish :)

I personally despise most Jazz, especially the Techno/Synth stuff that this place is littered with.

Makes me think

It sounds like remembering all the good times of something, that you had with someone. It starts with remembering a recent change, goes through everything fun and memorable of it before... and at the very end, letting go. You can't have those times any more, but... that's OK now.

Everything just feels... OK.

On the song itself, it was excellent all the way through, tranquil then exciting, but I swear I heard one or two keys that were just slightly off or awkward. Then again, what do I know about making music?

10 / 10, 5 / 5. Keep excelling with what you do, man.

MrMusicalLion responds:

I'm pretty amazed, your description is very accurate to what I had been feeling at the time that I made this.

I'm sure there are a few odd notes here and there, given that this was an improv rather than a composed piece. Over time I get better at avoiding odd notes but every now and then one slips by me.

Everything is OK :)
