Is this side of the sword blood-stained?
Good evening, gentleman.
It is the first time I hear a 4/4 rhythm in a ¾ measure on Newgrounds.
Composition:
This is a quite good example for some static musical piece without development.
Like already said, the rhythm pattern is good, but you can also make some minor changes while going on with this piece. Maybe you can make some measure changes. You should also alter the way the instruments play. Let the violins play a melody, while the harpsichord plays the rhythms or something else for example.
Instrumentation:
This sounds slightly like baroque music thanks to the instrumentation. But baroque music does not have the repetition you present us here.
The instruments themselves play always in the same range, try to alter it to make it more interesting.
I would also suggest you to use some different styles of playing the violin - pizzicato for example.
Another little flaw is, that the flutes play all along without any pause. I guess this score is made for people with giant lungs.
Mixing:
In my opinion, the mixing is a disaster. Why did you position every instrument on the left side? People with headphones will find this most annoying (and I am a headphone user).
You are missing of stereophony, some reverb and try to simulate the depth of the room with equalizers and different propagation delays for each instrument in the reverb plugin.
All in all, the mixing is the worst problem you have to fight with this one.
Best regards,
Sir Edward Eisenworth
