Slated to be the menu music for a never-completed game.

I'm no big expert in music but doesnt it feel a bit like Perfect Dark on the N64?

Hmm, anyway, great song!

Fun drums

I like this piece a lot, its got a slow funk to it; its simple but it keeps you listening. I particularly like the discordant whistling chords. It sound a lot like early Thievery Corporation.

The drums have a good quality to them as well, if they were of lesser build it would detract from the song considerably. I can definetely imagine this as a menu piece.

Also, I noticed in your profile that you have I <3 Huckabees as one of your favourite films. This makes me happy. Good job, John, I look forward to hearing more of your songs as you upload them.

JohnFloyd responds:

Once again, thanks for the comments! That third movie slot was a tough call. If you don't mind older movies I strongly recommend They Might Be Giants, I've never met anyone who's heard of it but it's a wonderfully introspective comedy (it's nothing like Being JM, but they're in the same category) that kicks my ass every time I see it.

Quite moving.

I think you should definatly use this for another game, it sounds pretty damn neat.

I kind of wonder what kind of game you were planning to use this for? It sounds like an action/RPG game... am I correct?

I really like the pad use here, the washing sensation was what gave this piece some real solid flavour to sink my teeth into.

I can hear this piece have a violin playing with the pad, but that could just be my overactive classical composer spirit talking.

Its pretty damn fine the way it is. The bass was a little too quiet, I could feel it (my earphones vibrated with the bass), and I could slightly make it out, but for sure, it should be a bit louder, I feel that would make give it a more solid feel.

The ending was a nice way of ending it.

4/5 this time John, because it got a bit repetitive, but still good.

Keep them coming.

JohnFloyd responds:

Excellent points, MS. I was a little concerned that the bass might be too low of a frequency... it sounds good on my equipment, and would probably rock with a subwoofer, but I should add a little high frequency to it for those without a lot of bass response. And the repetition is spot-on, when I specifically write menu music I sort of think that I should be encouraging players to play instead of just sit there... but I should probably stop doing that. :)

Wow. Never heard anything quite like this. Sounds a little like those wierd tunes from old sci-fi movies, you know, the ones that go OOOOOOoooOOOooooOOOOOOOOoOOOoooooOOOoooOOoOOoooOOO?
Peace out!

JohnFloyd responds:

At the time I was just going for creepy and mysterious, but yeah, I can live with OOOOooOOOooOOO. Thanks for the comments!
