So, last Thursday (the 24th) was the school-leaving ceremony of my class. Basically every year when the oldest class leaves the school to go to college, they organise an event where all sorts of activities go on. For example, this year we organised an arm-wrestling tournament for all the teachers, made a parody of the teacher's job interviews, organised a karaoke match among the teachers, various bands in our class did covers of existing songs, etc... and I thought of making a rap with lyrics that involve making fun of each teacher (all in good humour, naturally).

So, I spoke with a classmate who I knew was good at writing lyrics, and he began writing lyrics. In the meantime I began working on the intro. Once he finished the lyrics, he sent them to me and I finished the song. Then I asked Echo (http://echo.newgrounds.c om/), who is also a classmate of mine, to make a PowerPoint presentation of the lyrics to show to the school on the projector.

Anyhow, it turned out really well and everyone enjoyed it. The lyrics were well-written and fit well with my background music. Unfortunately I won't post the lyrics here because they're in Maltese (with me living in Malta and all...) and if I posted an English translation then it wouldn't sound good. In any case you'll need to know our teachers to get most of the jokes.

So, about the song, since I was limited in time, I used FL presets rather than made my own synths or found some fitting ones from other VST's. Nobody in the school (except Echo) uses FL Studio so I thought that I won't get any complaints like 'omg u used fl presets noob'. Similarly this uses Vengeance presets (edited, though), and for the same reason I used those rather than layered samples and edited them beyond recognition in the mixer.

Anyway I think this is a pretty catchy song despite the bad sounds. I rushed it a bit but nevertheless I'm quite proud of it. Note that the lyrics are supposed to start at 0:40 so from 0:40 to 2:20 it's just going to be repetitions. It won't be so repetitive with lyrics over it but without lyrics it'll get pretty annoying. If anyone wants to rap over this, be my guest.

Having said all that, enjoy the song, and I hope you like it. It's not often that I make hip-hop songs, or electronic/synthy songs at all, for that matter. Thanks for listening!

Different

Its very odd and not really quite as good as your other music. Its just missing some vital elements which always made your other songs unique and interesting. It has a slightly dull and bland opening. But thats quickly redeemed soon after. I didnt get the name at first, but your comments explained that. I think you should have posted the lyrics anyway, it would have been quite nice. Or better yet, you could have submitted a second version of the song featuring you and your classmates singing the song.

I have to admit, Im not to hot on syths or electronic hip-hop and the likes. But that didnt by any means stop me from enjoying it. It was a pretty good song, but it by no means represents your finest work, but its nice to see that you can work with a massive spectrum of music types. Good job, kinda catchy too 8/10 and 4/5

Man, you need to be repaid for all these reviews you're giving me.

Thanks, as usual!

"Its very odd and not really quite as good as your other music. Its just missing some vital elements which always made your other songs unique and interesting."

Yep, I made this pretty quickly. The thing is, I originally planned on making this a full song with a melody that will end up being sung by my classmate for the school-leaving ceremony. I asked Echo to help with the lyrics melody, since he's a bit more experienced in music than I am, but the melody he made kinda sucked and was so quick that it was impossible to sing :P.

Therefore, not so long before the ceremony, my classmate suggested I make a hip-hop song and he raps over it, so we wouldn't need a melody. Having never made hip-hop before, I knew it wasn't going to come out very good, but I finished it eventually, and after a few edits we finally had everything ready.

On the day of the ceremony, Echo quickly made a Powerpoint presentation with the lyrics written down in it, to be projected onto a screen when we start, and then, without any previous rehearsals, my classmate went up on the stage, the intro to the song began playing, and the presentation was projected onto the screen behind him.

Despite having no previous practice, he ended up rapping really well and didn't even stammer. He accidentally started the rap a few bars too early (at 0:30 instead of 0:40) but it actually sounded better like that :P.

Oops, sorry for the long story!

Haha well, they're still all in Maltese. To anyone who doesn't know Maltese, it'd be like listening to absolute gibberish, trust me!

Also, there are two things that I think nobody will ever manage to convince me to do, and they are dancing and singing. So I'm afraid me singing this will be very doubtful :P.

Thanks man. It's certainly not one of my best works, but I submitted it anyway.

Glad you still enjoyed it a bit!

Having seen all the show...

It was a great song, which fitted really well with the lyrics which Marc did. I think you should do some other hip-hop songs since you have a great talent :) Keep it up and I'll surely miss our conversations at school...take care steph ;)
