Butterflies ft. Easy Ez

As promised, this is the final version of "Butterflies" . This song is a collaborative effort between my friend Easy Ez and myself. FLS 9.0 was used to. Total time spent making this song: 12 hours.

Originally I was intending to make this track completely orchestral but the way it turned out I like quite nicely.

This song was originally also started as a sort of gift to my current girlfriend for our 3 month anniversary. Luckily, my friend was around to help me out.

Anyhoo. Hope you all enjoy. Please rate, comment, etc.

Alright, let's see, time to make a full review...

Intro: 8/10 I give it this because the bass seems slightly too staccato, and the drums are FAR too loud. (that's in my opinion, of course. They just seem to tell the piano to go jump out a window.) The strings coming in was nice, as well as the synth.

Instrumentation: 10/10 Very, VERY nice variety. There's a huge blend of synths, the orchestra, the drums fit in very well.

Drums: 8/10 You know I love your drums. :P My only problem with these are that they are a /little/ too overwhelming throughout.

Bass: 7/10 Good, but... This is where you lose more points. It's far, FAR too... boring. That's not my biggest problem though, my biggest problem is the bassy synth that comes in starting at about 1:00. It keeps going, VERY loud, and overpowers everything else.

Mixing: 9/10 Good good. You normally have extremely good mixing. But starting at about... 2:17, it gets way too busy, and while I can hear everything, it's all a big muddy mess of notes. While yes, it is EXTREMELY climactic, it's just... too much. I feel like I'm drowning in a mass of notes and noise. Holding back a little bit from there until 3:22 would have been nice, that or having it be a little bit shorter so it doesn't sound like someone yelling for a minute straight.

Outro: 8/10 Love how it fades out from about 3:44, possibly because of the sigh of relief from not having that hugely loud and muddy synth. I do not like how everything just stops at 4:00, though.

Overall score: 50/60, or 8.3/10.

Simplified overall score: 8/10, which is quite a bit better than a lot of the stuff that gets tossed in.

A little bit of bias from easy ez

Hey, this is Easy EZ here, just checking up on the start of my music career on newgrounds. Just wanting to say thank you to everyone who Voted, downloaded, listened, and commented on this track. Keep a look out for more Collaborative songs, and solo tracks from both myself, Av1tus, and ConsciousAutomation.

On this song in particular, I love strings, so that was a large part of my contributions, I never get tired of hearing them.

Best part 'bout this song

Duration 4-2-0, song's damn cool too.

ConsciousAutomation responds:

I hadnt really realized that until you pointed it out. But. Thanks for the review!

Real nice

I like the kindy dreamyness of it. Trancy feel almost. 1:10 cutoff around there was awesome. The drums after that are a little overpowering but it's all good. I like the piano and orchestral parts mixed as well. Keep it up man!

ConsciousAutomation responds:

Yeah, unfortunately I was doing this off of my laptop-- not the best computer to do mixes with. Granted, I was hooked into an entertainment system, but... In general, this is not the best piece of production I've done, but at the same time, its not the worst.

Thanks for the review!
