Tried going for more of a darkstep style of DnB with this one (might turn this one into an actual song). Enjoy!

Rather short

-Even though this is a loop I think this is the shortest audio piece that i've come across here on newgrounds. Not sure why it's so short but at least it loops well to give it the illusion of being a longer song. Definitely has some potential to be expanded even if it's just into a longer loop.

-The kick in isn't very strong but maybe it's to keep the loop more consistent instead of it having a precise point to have it start. Very nice percussion overall considering it makes up the majority of the background. Quite enjoyable as it is but wouldn't hurt to expand on this some.

Not much to say about it...

It's a pretty cool loop. Too bad it's only six seconds because I hate writing reviews which don't reach the character limit :P.

Anyway, I'll start by saying that I agree with Nomader about making some room for the beat. I think the drums would definitely sound a lot more intense if you give them some more importance. Having said that the beat was very good and you lined it up very nicely to the rhythms of the bass. I think that's one of the best qualities of this loop.

The drums themselves were great, and you chose good samples. The snare in particular was very fitting, and the fast-paced hats really added to the intense feel of the loop. If I had to complain about anything, it'd be the kick, which I think should have a tiny bit more of a thump to it. I'm not such an avid listener of drum'n'bass so I'm not sure if a more powerful kick will help, but it could be worth a try, since at times the kick does get drowned out by the other sounds.

And lastly I guess this loops perfectly so I can't complain there. If you were to continue it, I'd suggest starting it softly and full of suspense before moving on to this part, because in my opinion such a contrast will give the song more of an epic sound to it. By the way, I liked the synth you used in the background in the second part of the loop. Very fitting.

Anyway, as I said, there's not much to talk about. Six seconds, although they're packed with potential, so good luck if you ever continue this!

Psil0 responds:

Before I start with my comment, fair reviews from you both btw.

Also, I was thinking of building it in slowly, not so much in an eerily ambient sense, but more in a gradual fill in of all the different parts.

And I can agree with the kick drum, that's something I'll definitely look into emphasizing a little more especially since the genre is call drum and bass lol.

Once again, a fair review and I'll definitely take into consideration what you said.

Awesome!

Sweet! tell you what; As soon as i can, i can use it in an animation or short for a collab when it fits something. K?

Psil0 responds:

Sweet dude, message me when you have something!

Sweet loop

I actually find this to be pretty freaking awesome actually. The loop is just perfect. Cut off a tiny bit at end where you can tell the obvious cut and you have a winner.

The drums actually sound rather splendid here too and enjoyable. Really like how you just seem to be putting in little to no effort and then speeding it up real fast and adding a couple of effects to make it sound awesome.

The synth sounds really nice here too. Like how it is a very simple loop. The bass is in good spirit as well. IT all comes together to form a graveyard song which is wicked.

I would love to see this used in a flash or possibly a dark and scary game where you are running to make it out alive before zombies and mutants eat your flesh.

Overall, sick beat.

Drum and bass for the win

I love drum and bass, it's a fantastic musical genre that's overlooked by the mainstream. This is only a six second loop, so I can only critique it so much, but I'll do what I can.

If you're going to expand the loop, I'd look at pushing the synth back a little bit and actually bringing out the drum and bass which has a fantastic beat. It's really a driving force in this little snippet, and I'd suggest playing around with it and seeing what you can do-- that said, it might sound horrible, but I'm sure you can be a good judge of that.

The synth is catchy, and well written. I love the end at around 0:05 where it does about a second's worth of descent, establishing itself perfectly to start up again in the beginning. It's nice work.

I'm giving this a somewhat lower score, because as it's only six seconds, I don't think it's really a "10" material, but it's definitely the start for some fantastic groundwork for future endeavors. If you're thinking about expanding this one, it definitely has potential. Nice work.
