An interesting use of pentatonic styles with some clear influences in there. It set a scene very well but i cant help but feel there needed more variation. It seemed more like a dance piece when you examine its structure, its more about building layers than traveling along. Tonality didn't really move at all but it is hard to do so in this style. I felt the piano and cello worked really well, and the drums were programmed authentically. I would have personally used a more indigenous instrument such as a Taiko. The ground bass line had a nice shape but again it would have been more interesting if it had changes, pauses, modulation ect....
The piece became more effective as it went on and had good imagery.
