My entry for the March NAC (St. Pattie's day theme).

Used the stuff I found in Reason.

My first song like this btw,

Could be used in RPG taverns / credits.

A better quality version (.WAV) can be downloaded from da/ thoughts-of-hope

Pretty chill tavern song. I like how not too much is going on in the song so it is possible it can be used as an ambient song. I think I'll add this to the playlist of songs in my video game's tavern...

[Kieda] Thoughts of Hope [NAC]
This melody is catchy enough and fits in the realm of folk songs. However the instrumentation of this songs seems as thought it is lacking some. I get the feel of General Midi instruments with very light effects added to them. This song needs better quality instruments along with some effects that create a spacial atmosphere.

Great Melody, less than appealing instrument quality.

Well my first feeling.. is a very midi-ish feel to it - and then a sort of RPG town-ish feel to it - which granted it sort of has that medeival feel to it - I just wish some better samples had been used.. or even live samples.. but I realize the restrictions people have.

strings were nice.. but they felt a bit out of place in the mix.. perhaps they were too far forward and prominant and sort of drowned out the rest of the song...

Overall pretty solidly constructed piece.. just wish it had felt more "real"

Although I find this to be a great composition, the samples are pretty weak and it doesn't ring celtic/irish/st-patty to me, more like generic RPG village stuff. But like I said great composition. But you lose the points on straying away from the contest's objectives.

waking up in a nice quiet rpg village

that's what it felt like while listening to this. I don't really see myself getting pissed drunk with music like this though :D

The production (especially the strings at around 1:32) could've be a lot better but don't worry, you'll only get better with time! Hell you sound a lot better than me at the beginning of the year!

Kieda responds:

"Medeival-like bard music with lutes and whistles and all that fancy fucking stuff!" Hopefully it falls at least to that category xP

Thanks for the review (:
