I can tell you don't know my friend. His name is Param EQ 2. This is under the mixer in FL, and is very handy for most instruments. It can let your lows have more low. Even more low than what your samples get naturally.

Also, masking samples is something I would try to go for at this point, it shows a higher level of professionalism.
