haha cuz I always ask: What plugins were you using man?? This is seriously awesome no joke. I love how it's kinda soft in the beginning then BAM! haha this should be in somebody's game or something. Really though you have good talent. Keep it up!

OpenLight responds:

Thank you!

I use FL Studio 8 and the plugins I use (primarily) are Nexus 2 and the defaults of FL Studio 8. In the mixer, I did the bass effect (sidechaining) by using the peak controller, but it's harder to explain in text than in video form so I suggest looking it up if you don't know how already.

I used Parametric EQ 2 if I'm not mistaken in a few parts of this (in conjunction with automation clips) to make certain fading effects.

The instrument that becomes prominent at 1:04 is called Electric3 and it should be default in the Sytrus section. The second solo was done with that. The first and last were done with some organ synth in Nexus 2. (I can specify what organ it is in a private message if you want.)

I used an automation clip with Phaser at around 2:28.

Uh not sure what else to say haha. I think I could have stopped at Nexus 2 but I figured I may as well say as much as possible. Hope this answers your question!

Thanks again for the review!

its cool

you should tweak your percussion mixing though because I can barely hear it. My advice is to give the cymbals a good amount of high but low mid and bass. On the kick, did you run it through the maximizer and eq it to have a small peak of upper mid? i think it would improve it a lot. the percussion was also panning a little heavy to the left. It kindof annoys my ears. Great job and keep improving! check out my music and review me as well! also, as a fellow FL user I gotta show you the skin I made here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/54051 76 ignore the fact that its a furry site plz ^^

OpenLight responds:

Thanks for the review.

Yeah I probably won't check out that skin ha but thanks for the tips. I'll consider them.

The intro reminded me of an effect I first used by deadmau5, which was, when the kick hit, the rest of the music, went quiet then louder when the kick was gone. I love that effect for some reason. Overall I love the song. It sounds great. The minor scale part behind the main was strange but awesome. The solo was cool, it gave me goosebumps which is very rare for me anymore. Then the chip solo gave me them again. Love it. Then the part where it was fading and coming back in a bunch was awesome. I just loved the track. love love love love love love blah blah blah love love. So there we go, I think it's out of my system. Anyway, good shit OL.

OpenLight responds:

Hahaha woo thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

EDIT: Oh by the way, in case you see this, you can do this on FL studios by messing with the mixer's peak control and linking certain channels to a controller. It's kinda complicated to type out but you can check out videos of sidechaining if you want to find out how to do it.

Shit kid! Nice! I'm amazed! You did a fantastic job with this! I love everything about it! the sounds, the composition, the crazy solo in the middle, it was all just boss. It was quite a treat being able to hear this. I love what you did with it.

*Also - as far as our remix trade goes, I'm about halfway done with my side of the deal. Hopefully it'll get done today, if not, then sometime this week. I promise.

OpenLight responds:

Hahaha don't rush, it's no big deal.

I'm psyched that you like it! It was fun to do for sure, and this has always been my favorite song by you.

An amazingly done remix.

Easily the best one you've done yet. I actually have no constructive criticism on this one, it's too good. You perfectly expanded upon Numi's song with this, that's all I can say.

OpenLight responds:

I used sidechaining (or whatever it's called) for the first time on this one, and I like the way it sounds.

I'm on the IRC by the way if you want to head on lol.
