"Sea of Memories and Dreams"is dedicated to the Roosevelt High School graduating class of 2011. I started this piece during my senior year of high school of 2008. Before I graduated, I promised the freshmen students (who are now seniors) that I would write a piece for them when they graduated. However, this piece was set aside for a couple years during my freshman and sophomore years in college. In late 2010, I began to work on it again; improving and expanding on my original musical sketches. This Piece takes the listener through a journey through four stages of life: birth, childhood, adulthood, and Old age. Each stage in life has an its own unique musical theme. The birth starts the piece with the violins and woodwinds which depicts the miracle of birth. During the childhood stage, the childhood theme played by the solo piano and then by the orchestra. The childhood theme represents the joy and carefreeness of a child. In the adulthood stage, the piece becomes more toned down and emotional. The cellos and oboe play the adulthood theme which represents maturity. Finally, the whole orchestra plays the old age theme filled with memories, heartache, and joy. The piece crescendos to its climax and ends with four blows to the bass drum.
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
