SimCorders "late" Judging

Arrgh... sorry about the late judgement guys, somehow I missed this entry when I went through the list.

Acting: 31/35
Fit: 21/25
Originality: 13/15
Range: 7/15
Mixing: 8/10

Total: 80

I'm impressed with how well acted your voices were. However the snowman's and the villains voice seemed a bit monotonous even though I could make out quite a bit of emotion. Another issue was the similarity in the voices of the hero and the narrator, but you put a lot of effort into this and it shows in the voices.

I'd probably call this story one of the most original, even though there were 2-3 other entries that had similar concepts (evil snowmen and evil plots) however, there isn't much you can do about that so I won't deduct much off originality.

as for sounds, they were pretty well done and quite clear, I particularly liked the gun sound effects, but it would of been amusing if there was a blow dryer in the
background when the snowman was getting melted.

All in all, this was an amusing entry, You got good voice acting potential, keep at it.

6th Voice Acting Contest Final Results!

An Evil Winter Story Final Score: 88

FatKidWitAJetPak's Final Judgment:

Acting: 30/35
Fit: 22/25
Originality: 14/15
Range: 13/15
Mixing: 7/10
Final: 86/100

"Unfirled" lol hey that's not a word. I also enjoyed the originality of this skit. I found myself laughing at your corny jokes and how I never got to figure out what the plan really was due to your lulzy writing. Your evil scientist voice was really well done and personally I found it quite hilarious.

One thing you should work on when producing future demo reels is your mixing with sound effects and music. Voice actors find it much, much easier to find sound effects and music online so that they don't have to make it themselves. Let's face it, most of us are voice actors not sound effect producers.

Next time, go to google and search for key words that describe your sound effect such as "gun" and "gun fire" and "footsteps". Then you can work on voicing over these sound effects, acting like the character is carrying them out. This requires getting out of your comfort zone, which in turn will improve your acting. Your acting was pretty well done! There were a few errors, such as the death of the snowman. It didn't sound very painful, it was simply sarcastic. I couldn't tell if you were trying to be purposely dull or not for that, but in the future make sure to act out expressions.

Your narration voice was well done! The rhymes were catchy and the story itself was original. I would love to see this be made into an animation actually.

JaShinYa's Final Judgment:

Acting: 33/35
Fit: 23/25
Originality: 15/15
Range: 13/15
Mixing: 7/10
Final: 91/100

Comments: Just a few critiques here. Backup from the mic or invest in a pop filter... or a better one if you have one already. Some puffs interfered with the recordng. Also, the hero's voice was a little off. Pretty close to the narrator's and I couldn't tell if he was trying to be cool or Keanu Reeves. Overall the acting was very good and the skit was amusing! This is definitely one of the most original pieces in the contest. Also, this is a great example of VA made SFX. Great job!

Suezo's Easter Judging (V.A.C 6)

What up Drew!

It' Easter and I figured you deserved some reviews that you were promised. So I thought I would throw in my 2 cents as a peer reviewer.

Acting: 32/35
Continuity: 19/25
Originality: 15/15
Range: 13/15
Mixing: 6/10
Final: 85

Holy Christmas Puns Batman...

Acting: The acting was very good in contrast between each of your characters. The villian's voice seemed a little overbaring (and a bit annoying) at times. but other than that I thought it was an overall good variety of characters.

Continuity: I think you can do better work on your story plot. I felt a bit disconneted because I was led to believe by the narrator that the villian was unfurling an evil plot. The story dragged a bit in the middle with the back and forth between the snowman and the villian, and we never really did learn of the plan he was unleashing. That and the somewhat akward confrontation between the protagonist and the villians. But this didn't take away do badly from the other categories at all.

Originality: Great concept. There is always a story of evil people planning something maniacal but in the end it matters more about the internal affairs rather than a big picture of "bad guy threatens everyone, good guy stops him." I really appreciated the personal insight to the villian that you added, It helps the listener connect with the story well.

Range: Like before, the villian may have been a tad extreme, but in terms of range I think it was a great contrast to your other characters. The protagonist may have also shared a similar voice to the narrator, which didn't mix well since he was the last to speak before the narrator returned.

Mixing: Timing. There was some painful dead space in your skit (i think between the protagonist and the snowman.) It's always good to go back over your audio and re-evaluate those elements of your story to make sure they add the atmopsheric effect to what you are presenting. besides that I think you did an overall good job with the effects and interactions.

Good effort. You've got great creativity in story telling I think you just need to work on the pacing.

Keep up the good work.
