Freezing to death is serenity

...struggling against the piercing blizzard he made his way slowly north. Being lost for two days wasn't doing anything for his morale...

...the sky filled his vision. All parts of his body were numb and his sight flickered. The world was slowly fading away from his mind...

...frozen to death.

The other day I dreamt I was wandering high above Hamrar over Kjarnaskógur, a small forest in my country, at midnight. It had been snowing lightly for a couple of days before but as it got closer to twelve the snowing became stronger. I had forgotten which way led back and I got lost. I almost froze to death and I was forced to seek shelter between two heavy rocks. I slept there the whole night. When I woke up I felt numb and it actually took my an hour to get on my feet. I could not get the feeling for any of my bodyparts. Great fun!

[Edit] Re-mastered so people are able to hear the song. It seems to be a consistent problem with me and my songs that I render them too quietly.

I think some violins would fit nicely in this song

I like this, its very quiet and understated, even though you've adjusted the rendering! Haha. The drums sound SO good! Are those real, soundfonts, VSTi's, or did you use your keyboard? I'm just curious because I've never been able to find drums so nice! Great work! Very relaxing.

Fanopeion responds:

I use Addictive Drums for all my compositions. I record them from my keyboard through midi, loop them and quantanize them for 1/4 a step and so on. However for the sound itself I often edit these drums with various filters and/or slight panning for selected attributes such as the hihat.

I highly recommend them to anyone that is interested in nice drums for their songs :)

Is peace

I'm glad you survived, first off. Second off, I love where you are going with this piece of music. Most song creators would have emphasized on the pain of freezing. But you embrace it. It's a strange feeling that this gives you, like just drifting away...

Full marks because this is just peaceful, yet phenomenal. It makes you think and feel and I value that in a song.
