_A Walk In The Woods_

This one was created for my music technology class in Garageband.

This was a special challenge in the course -- it had to:

-Be done in about 50 minutes
-Only contain notes from the pentatonic scale
-Use no more than 4 tracks
-Be approximately 1 minute in length

This was hard for me to do, but I think it turned out half-decent.

I see this song representing someone having a pleasant walk through a forest or park of some kind. In the middle section, it starts to rain, but this quickly subsides.

Pretty simple and short; think of it what you will :p

Greasy basslines, riffs, and mindless drifting

Hey Birdinator99

Decent for usual circumstances, but in view of your current requirements, breathtaking. I have heard a few of your tracks and they mostly focus on the composition side rather than mastering, am I correct? The assembly of the track is unique and special. You are a genius.

In all truth, I find it hard to listen to your tracks because of their dryness. This track however is a delight in comparison. It feels like it just cruises along, probably because of the nice bassline. Cruising on the greasy track with some nice gat riffs and fried egg on the side. Blissful.

It's nice the vision you had in mind for this. I can taste it as I listen. Even as the guitar plays its haunting riff, can I hear the rain in the background? Or is it my imagination? Somehow I believe you put things in there for us not to notice, but to just wonder.

Your tune is different and nice, it uses special harmonies and unique enchanting solos to capture the heart of the listener. Ends abruptly, cruises gently, has a distinct voice. The only complaint I have in this department is that it does not remind me of a walk in the woods. It brings to mind sadness and disappointment at the end of the bed. If'n you know what I mean. Not that way. >:(

This tilt makes me feel so relaxed while reviewing I just want to say whatever I like. Why am I even writing this review? You love making the music, I can tell. And I just drift along the tides of your melodic presence, or something. Thanks for letting me listen.

Thanks for the big review!

Yes, I do focus on composition, but I am no genius haha. Sorry if it brings sadness to mind, but I'm glad it was relaxing.

I do love making music, but I'm also sorry that my other stuff is too dry :p

Very chilled.

It's a joyous walk in the woods here. Nature's all around, the birds are singing; life is good. I think you accomplished that in a very short amount of time, and I commend you for it.

It's that same short time that is the song's shortfall. If this were a loop (which it very well could be), this would be a different story, and I'd give you a 10, but it's a song, and as such, I expected a little more. I don't need a lot, just another minute or two of some variations on the melody or beat. Small changes would make me really happy.

Other than that, the song is fantastic. I really love the mood it creates, and if I ever need some menu music, or credits music, or even something for a happy scene, I'll come here.

Thanks; that means a lot!

I like it. It's a nice little relaxing tune, albeit not very long.

I think the instruments you used sound great and I honestly have no complaints about them. The bass has a nice deep sound, and the synth has a nice resonance to it.

Overall I bet you passed the class ;) Let us know what grade you get, lol. Great tune m8 - keep up the good work.

Birdinator99 responds:

Thanks, although I must point out that synth is actually a guitar!

Yeah, the semester's almost over; things are looking good.

Sounds relaxing

Sounds like a very relaxing tune as you said it was. The keyboard reminds me a bit of Electro Rock by Sworn. The tune just sounds real soft overall though since it never gets heavy at all. The bass line is pretty casual as well. The drum was also simplistic although towards the second half of the song it speeds up a bit.

Overall, this is an alright song. I could see it being used as menu music in a flash game of some kind that was industrial related.

Birdinator99 responds:

Hmm, interesting. It doesn't strike me as industrial, but it's always neat to get other perspectives!

Thanks for the kind words!

Pretty cool.

I liked the idea of that special challenge, and I think it was a pretty good song, since it was composed in 50 minutes and all that other stuff.

I liked the bass line, and the main guitar with a nice and relaxing sound, I liked to listen this one while I was going through newgrounds, it's a very good song for what what proposed in that challenge.

I'm givin' you a 10 because that's a very good song, I think it turned out great. My onyl complain is that it's way too short, it's a very good idea, so, I think you could just keep it up and add more things or make it longer... Keep it up dude!!

Birdinator99 responds:

Well, I would've made it longer if I had more time.

I may revisit this idea in the future, but for now I won't edit it, in the spirit of the challenge and all.

Thanks very much!
