Suezo's Easter Judging (for V.A.C 6)
It's easter and I thought I would do you the honors of giving you a peer review of your contest piece since you were so kind to do the same for me.
I'll be honest when I first saw this on the thread (about 3 months ago) I was pretty sure I already knew what it was already about. Needless to say I think you did a great job with the whole "maniacal snowman skit."
Acting: For the most part the mentality was there. The thing that always gets me (in my opinion) is the subtle nueances that give the skit the icing on the cake (characters talking in background, characters reacting to what is going on) always assume that even if a character isnt talking, they are still involved in the story as it moves. I think think you could bring this out a little more the next time around.
Fit: Honestly, I think that this category is pointless becuase the contest said "winter themed" I'd say that was too vague and to disiss any skit becuase of that would be rediculous since they ALL are "winter themed."
Originality: I think this is an awesome theme, granted it's probably been used a dozen times over, it's my belief that it's not who does it first but the best. You set a nice mood with the contrasting characters and their extreme differences.
Range: From what I heard, there was distinctly 2 voices, the children and flakey (and the cop) I think you can experimet a little more with you voices. The accents are good but try using that to you're advantage to morph the identity of your characters, as opposed to relying on the idea that kids voices are high, and sinister villians are low and grainy (same for cops.)
Mixing: Just some minor mixing things, i would say work more on the timing between characters speaking and actions happening within the skit. Also the same can be said for the gunshots and their variety.
Overall great job, I can't wait to hear more stuff from you!
