I had a lot of fun making this retro loop. Think of an airship or sailing in an old NES game!

This game had a lot of 8-bit love, but some of the drum noises were a bit choppy/messy and felt like they were sorta slapped on.
Also the layering seemed too intricate for 8-bit era music, especially once the melody started. It also had a strange sort of dissonance that didn't ring true for me.

BlazingDragon responds:

Your comment about the intricacy makes sense. This piece might be more accurately described as "pseudo-8bit". Delay effects and slight reverb are probably not true to real NES sounds, and I'm not sure the NES has enough sound channels for something like this. Still, accuracy wasn't what I was going for. I wanted to create something in a retro style but with my own distinct personality. Unfortunately, drum writing is one of my weaker skills, but I assure you that the part was not slapped on.

Thanks for the detailed review!

I feel nostalgic...

There will always be a place in my heart with 8-bit music and this fills up some of those long hours without it. I really love that it is a loop, and I have not really any qualms about how it sounded. It wasn't really a silent part at the end it just got quiet at the end. I was listening for awhile until I rremembered it was a loop.
5/5 10/10 ^.^ Make more music like this in the future I'm looking forward to it!

BlazingDragon responds:

This piece was my first venture into the world of 8-bit, and I had so much fun with it! The fact that this piece received relatively few listens and only one review after almost a year has been immensely disappointing to me. Having said that, it thrills me to find that someone has enjoyed it. :D

Thanks for making my day. I now feel like making more of this type of music.

New Style... Oddly, it Fits

I had a lot of fun listening to this retro loop. Man, it brought me back to the good ol' days. I noticed that this song was only rated 3.95/5, so I bumped it up to a 4.07/5 for ya. I understand where the low rating comes from, though. What with all of the hype about "professional-sounding" music spreading across the portal, 8-bit music seems to have lost its charm on its own. This song is beautiful, calming, and definitely worth listening to. The only reason I'm giving it a 9/10 is because the loop adds a silent beat at the end for some reason. The loop needs to flow into itself. Otherwise, great work!

BlazingDragon responds:

First of all, thanks for the bump up on the score! 8-bit music is so incredibly charming and fun to listen to. It presents a whole set of challenges though. Maybe that's the draw of composing it. :) And as far as that silence, I don't know how to fix that!!!! Arrrgh! Oh well....

Thank you for the observant review. As always, you rock. :D
